Musselwhite Coat-of-Arms.
The coat-of-arms of the Musselwhite family indicates that two families of equal rank were united. The Musselwhite shield is quartered: the first and fourth quarters representing the male, are composed of two black horizontal bands separated by a gold one and on the black bands are pearl-like circles. Black signifies constancy, gold great generosity and blue is the emblem of sincerity. The second and third quarters of this shield, representing the female’s paternal arms, are composed of two azure blue banks separated by a yellow band and on the blue bands are sheaves of golden wheat.. The knight in armor above the shield is an indication that our ancestor received the high honor of knighthood, and did not assume the coat-of-arms. A wolf rampant is clearly defined on the crest of the Musselwhite coat-of-arms, which evidences that both families used the same crest. The decorations around the shield is the mantling. The knights frequently went on long crusades and used mantling as a protection from the sun. The fanciful twists represent the cuts received in battles and these incisions in the mantling are marks of glory and helped to distinguish his bravery on the battlefields.

Water ski champions
From Joe Balco - I bought my first boat in 1946, learned to ski on two skies, and in 1949 won a 36-mile water skiing marathon in Rio Vista, CA. It was only the beginning. Over the next thirty-eight years, I earned first-place finishes in water ski jumping, tricks, slalom, mixed doubles, pyramid competitions, and ski and boat racing. I loved the competition, and my endurance was unmatched.
On October 10, 1954, at 32 years-of-age, Hubert Miller and I set a world record water skiing for nine hours and forty minutes. We skied 276 miles.

Joseph Leonard "Bud" built this store in 1929. This is a 1972 photograph. Martin Wilson expanded the store in the rear around 1960. Bud hired O.C. Carroll to build the store. Much of the timber came from family property about 10 miles away in Howellesville, Robeson County. Bud's store was very much a general store selling meats, animal feeds, farm supplies, groceries, gas, and kerosene. There was a slaughter house behind the store for butchering cows and pigs. Tar Heel did not obtain electrical service until around 1940. The store is located on highway 87 near the intersection of Tar Heel Road (State Rd 1004).

Pat Waas wrote, "The first picture is of my Grandmother Ina Lou Biggs with my Grandfather Frank Blackwell in 1919, before they married. The back of the picture states this, along with a note from my Grandmother written at that time which says,"Don't look at my feet, I have a sore toe." This photo was processed in Tyler, Texas. I believe they met there. The second photo is of them when they married in 1920. I have always loved this photo. They lived in Tyler, Texas when they married."
