    A native of St. Pauls, he was born April 3, 1934, to the late Herbert Vance Sr. and Bertie Kinlaw Allen.

    He served in the U.S. Army and received the Army of Occupation, Germany Medal. Allen was one of the co-founders of Big Marsh Fire Department, serving as chairman of the board in 2002. He devoted 20 years to the department, until his retirement. A former member of the Lions Club, he was also a member of the VFW and the American Legion. He owned and operated City Insurance Agency of St. Pauls for 40 years. Allen was an active member of First Baptist Church.

    He is survived by his wife, Debbie Allen of the home; a daughter, Angie Matthes and her husband Ron, botha of Fuquay-Varina; two stepsons, Joey McDuffie and his wife Kasia of Grays Creek and Ken McDuffie of St. Pauls; two granddaughters, Katie Matthes and Karlie McDuffie; a sister, Helen Dye of Jacksonville, Fla; and two sisters-in-law, Betty Jean Covington of Virginia and Christine Monroe of Maxton.

    The funeral will be 1 p.m. Thursday at First Baptist Church of St. Pauls, the Rev. Pat Hash officiating. Burial will follow in Great Marsh Baptist Church Cemetery officiated by McNeill Mackie Funeral Home.

Along with his parents, he was preceded in death by his loving wife, Glenda Sue Taylor Britt; and his siblings: Alexander, James, Buddy, Nancy, and Louise.
    He is survived by four sons: one daughter, his grandchildren: his great-grandchildren: his siblings: and special friends. The family will receive friends prior to the service on Saturday, April 9, 2022, from 1:00-3:00 PM at Antioch Baptist Church, 5089 Old Whiteville Road in Lumberton, NC. Following the visitation, a funeral service will be held at 3:00 PM . Burial will follow at Taylor Family Cemetery, located off Beulah Church Road in Lumberton, NC.

    Morris Britt Obituary
    Mr. Morris Britt, 80, of Lumberton, NC, went to his Heavenly Home on Tuesday, April 5, 2022. He was born in Robeson County, NC on May 26, 1941 to the late Pearl & Edith Wilcox Britt. He was a certified mechanic at Lumberton Ford for 2 years, a Mechanical Development Manager at West Point Pepperell for 37 years, and an Auto Mechanic Instructor at Robeson Community College for 13 years.

    Along with his parents, he was preceded in death by his loving wife, Glenda Sue Taylor Britt; and his siblings: Alexander, James, Buddy, Nancy, and Louise.

    He is survived by four sons: Joey Morris Britt, Steven Mark Britt (Amy), Kevin Douglas Britt (Kim), and Jason Morris Britt, all of Lumberton, NC; one daughter, Pamela Sue Chapman (Jim) of Charlotte, NC; his grandchildren: Andrea Goettsch, Courtney, Basaldua, Deidre John, Glenda Sue Chapman, Jordan Chapman, Joshua Chapman, Taylor Britt, Christian Britt, Devin Wiggins, Cameron Britt, and Colin Britt; his great-grandchildren: Layla Basaldua, Elliana Basaldua, Levi John, Hannah John, Kaylin Hammonds, and Everlee Wiggins; his siblings: Horace, Lewis, Junior, Leonard, Kathleen, Minnie, and Ann; and special friends, Kayla Guyton and Jamie Harris.

    The family will receive friends prior to the service on Saturday, April 9, 2022, from 1:00-3:00 PM at Antioch Baptist Church, 5089 Old Whiteville Road in Lumberton, NC.
