  In about 1850 Dan bought 6 horses and 242 head of Longhorns and settled on Denton Creek, in Wise County, near the frontier town of Decatur, TX.
  
  In 1851, he increased his herd and bought 15,000 acres near Cactus Hill, about 18 miles west of Decatur, TX.

This enabled him to buy more Longhorns at $8.00 a head and to add to his land. Soon he had pastures in Wilbarger, Foard, Wichita, Baylor, Archer, and Knox Counties.

  In addition to her parents Mrs. Bennett was preceded in death by her husband of 36 years Burl Bennett (whom she married Feb. 22, 1941, and who passed away Feb. 1, 1977); four sisters; and three brothers.
