Mrs. Vernie W. Collins, 75, widow of J.C. Collins died at 3:15 a.m. Tuesday in Southeastern General Hospital following an extended illness. Funeral services will be held at 3 p.m. Wednesday at Biggs Funeral Chapel with Dr. Russell T. Cherry officiating. Burial follows in New Hollywood Cemetery.
Survivors include three sons, Willis Douglas Collins of Greensboro, Samuel Collins of Lumberton and James Hilburn Collins of Richmond, Va; two daughters, Mrs. Hilda Barton of Lake Worth, Fla. and Mrs. Betty Finley of West Palm Beach, Fla; two brothers, Clarence Willis of Laurinburg and Wilson Willis of Orlando, Fla; a sister, Mrs. Annie Johnston of Cary; 14 grandchildren; 2 great-grandchildren.
The family will be at the home of her son and daughter-in-law, Mr. and Mrs. Samuel Collins of 401 W. 36th St., Lumberton, and will be at Biggs Funeral Home tonight (Tuesday) from 7:30 to 9.

James C. Collins, 71, of 409 East Fifth Street, a former lumber dealer here, died Saturday night about 8:30 at the Veterans hospital, Fayetteville.
Funeral services are being held today (Monday) at 2:30 P.M. in Stephens Funeral Chapel, with Rev. A.P. Stephens conducting. Burial will be in New Hollywood Cemetery.
Mr. Collins, a son of the late Lodrick and Mrs. Ila Byrd Collins, was born and reared in Lumberton, Rt. 3. Surviving are his widow, Mrs. Vernie Willis Collins; two daughters, Mrs. Todd W. He was born in Lumberton, a son of the late James Clarence and Vernie Mae Willis Collins and was a widower of Marium Wilkes Collins. He was a World War II Veteran, having served in the US Army.

Samuel Loderick Collins, 66, of 401 W. 36th St., Lumberton, died Dec. 30, 2005, at home.
The funeral will be 11 a.m. Monday at the Floyd Memorial Chapel in Lumberton, the Rev. Joe Bounds officiating. Burial will follow at the New Hollywood Cemetery.
He was preceded in death by his parents, James Clarence Collins and Vernie Mae Willis Collins.
Collins was a teacher in Robeson County for 40 years. He was a football coach at Littlefield High School, having won the state championship in 1965. He was also a driver's education teacher and he also worked for the H & R Block for 27 years.
Surviving are his wife, Linda P. Collins of the home; a brother, Douglas Collins of Durham; two sisters, Hilda Barton and Betty Finley and her husband, Bill, all of West Palm Beach, Fla; three sons, Samuel Phillip Collins and his wife, Susan of Morehead City, Christopher Brennen Collins of Cary, and Brian Kevin Collins and his wife, Kelli of Zebulon; a daughter, Gina Brooke Bullard and her husband, William, of Apex; and three grandchildren, Sarah Rebecca Collins, Sydni Leigh Collins and William Collin Bullard.
The family will receive friends from 7 to 9 p.m. today at the Floyd Mortuary & Crematory, Inc. in Lumberton. Memorials may be made to First Baptist Church, P.O.
