  • Biography*: Flora Lou Taylor Ives, age 85 of Burgaw, passed away Sunday September 23, 2018 at Lower Cape Fear Hospice.

    She was born July 3, 1933 in Robeson County, daughter of the late Willie and Naomi Musselwhite Taylor. She was also predeceased by her husband George Marvin Ives and son George Ives.

    She is survived by two sons, Jamie Ives and wife Connie of Burgaw and Tommy Ives and wife Angela of Burgaw; a daughter Kimberly Ives Jones and friend Chris Kane of Rocky Point; nine grandchildren, Jeremy Ives, Jamie Ives Jr., Megan Ives Mantooth, Brandon Ives, Abigail Ives Zambrano, Lacy Ives, Mika Ives Jones, Kayla Ives Russell and Kendall Ives; ten great grandchildren; a sister Nancy Elmore of Albany GA; and many nieces and nephews.

    Flora was a hardworking person and always giving to others. Every Sunday she had dinner for her family and any friends they might bring. She loved her family dearly and they all looked forward to their Sunday afternoons together.

    A private funeral service and burial will be held at Riverview Memorial Park.

    Born August 14, 1953, in Pender County, he was the son of George Marvin Ives, Sr. and Flora Taylor Ives of Burgaw.
    Mr. Ives was a member of Friendly Community Church. He was employed by Jacobs Engineering in Cary, NC.
    Surviving in addition to his parents are his wife, Donna Williams Ives of the home; sons, Jeremy Ives of Burgaw and Brandon Ives of the home; daughter, Lacy Ives of the home; brothers Danny Ray Ives of Currie, Jamie Ives and wife, Connie, and Tommy Ives and wife, Angela, all of Burgaw; sister, Kim Jones and husband, Lee, of Rose Hill; paternal grandmother, Louise Batts of Burgaw; maternal grandmother, Naomi Taylor of Albany, GA; and several nieces and nephews.
    Funeral service will be 11:00 a.m. Friday at Quinn-McGowen Funeral Home Chapel with the Rev. Stiles Ellyson and the Rev. Elbert Bradshaw officiating.
    Burial will follow in Burgaw Cemetery.
    The family will receive friends 7 to 9 p.m. Thursday at Quinn-McGowen Funeral Home, Burgaw.
