Mr. Taylor was born September 29, 1959, in Portsmouth, Virginia, to Willie J. Taylor Sr. and Beatrice Williams. He was predeceased by his wife, Marjorie Willison and his brother, David Taylor.
He was a graduate of Deep Creek High School class of 1977.
He was a welder at BAE Systems, formally Norshipco, for the past 37 years. He was a proud member of the International Brotherhood of Boilermakers, Iron Ship Builders, Blacksmiths, Forgers and Helpers. While employed, in 2004, he received an acknowledgement in the form of a Ship Repair - The Adult Trading Card, card number 12. He was acknowledged for teaming up and making a shift plastic net to help soften the landing and save the life of a fellow co-worker who was hanging to the underside of the USS Cape St. George after high winds knocked over the scaffolding the co-worker was on.
In his free time, he enjoyed cooking, fishing, crabbing, camping, playing the guitar, listening to music, traveling, but above all else, spending time with his children and grandchildren whom he loved dearly. Supporting his love of traveling, he was fortunate enough to be able to visit Japan, Italy, Mexico, Canada, Hawaii, San Diego, and Florida.
In addition to his parents, survivors include sisters, Gilda DeLaCruz and Debbie Warner; brother, Willie Taylor Jr; daughters, Jenifer Purcell and Stephanie Nicholas; son, Wesley Taylor Jr; 5 grandchildren, and many nieces, nephews, and cousins.
The viewing will be held from 6 to 9 p.m., Friday, October 12, 2012, at the Great Bridge Chapel of Oman Funeral Home & Crematory, 653 Cedar Rd, Chesapeake.

53-year-old man dies in single-vehicle accident
A 53-year-old man died Monday in a single-vehicle accident after his car veered off a roadway and struck a ditch.
The crash occurred just before 6a.m. in the 1000 block of Shillelagh Road, Chesapeake, police said. A pick-up truck driven northbound by Wesley L. Taylor.
Police said Taylor lost control of the vehicle. Taylor was transported to Sentara Norfolk General and was pronounced dead upon arrival.
