Bettie Melvin Dowless, age 73, of Bladenboro, died Saturday, January 23, 2010. She was the daughter of the late Henry and Carrie Melvin. She was preceded in death by a brother, Carlton Melvin and a sister, Doris M. Shaw.
She is survived by her husband of 58 years, Cletus Dowless; two sons, Ronnie Dowless and wife Peggy of Bladenboro, Dale Dowless and wife Sheila of Tar Heel; a daughter, Gwenda Smith and husband Ernest of Bladenboro; a sister, Mildred M. Dalien of Fayetteville; nine grandchildren and nine great-grandchildren.
The family will receive friends Monday, January 25, 2010 from 7:00 to 9:00 PM at Bladen-Gaskins Funeral Home. The funeral will be conducted by Rev. Dave Pyatte and Rev.
