• Biography*: Mr. Conerly passed away at his residence in Tylertown, Mississippi on Thursday, August 1, 2013. He was born January 22, 1929 in Bradley, Arkansas, to the late James Lamkin and Mary Alvesta Fornea Conerly. In addition to his parents, he was also preceded in death by his wives Emogene Willoughby Conerly and Mary Ellen Delaughter Rushing Conerly; siblings James Lamkin, Jr. and Ouida Dykes Conerly, John Henry (DeeCee) Conerly, Mary Joyce Conerly, and Linda Joan and Billy E. Alford; and special brother-in-law Vernon Eugene Brumfield.
  
  Mr. Conerly graduated from Tylertown High School in 1947. It was there that he developed his love of football, playing for the Tylertown Blue Devils. He then attended Pearl River Junior College, where he played football under the legendary coach, Dobie Holden. Mr. Conerly was elected into PRC's Sports Hall of Fame in 2002. Upon graduation from PRC in 1949, Mr. Conerly joined the United States Air Force. He served at Francis E. Warren Air Force Base in Cheyenne, Wyoming and at Randolph Air Force Base in San Antonio, Texas. He received an Honorable discharge with the rank of Staff Sergeant. Mr. Conerly then enrolled in the Southwestern Louisiana Institute (now the University of Louisiana – Lafayette) to continue his education. He graduated in May 1957, with a Bachelor's Degree in Electrical Engineering. Upon graduation from SLI, Mr. Conerly went to work with Schlumberger Well Surveying Corporation; his responsibilities included locating deposits of oil and gas using electrical and radioisotope methodologies.
  
  In 1969, Mr. Conerly and family moved back to Tylertown when he became Chief Engineer for the newly constructed Walthall County General Hospital. He was responsible for all hospital maintenance, all building services, yards, housekeeping and laundry, and was named Assistant Administrator in 1972. He retired from WCGH in 1994.
  
  Mr. Conerly served on the Walthall County School Board from 1973 until 1980. Mr. Conerly became a licensed Professional Engineer in 1957, in both Louisiana and Mississippi. He served as President of the Bogue Chitto Chapter of the Mississippi Engineering Society in 1986 – 1987. He was very involved in "Math Counts" held at Southwest Mississippi Junior college. He was also an active member of Tylertown United Methodist Church, serving in various leadership roles. Mr. Conerly was also a proud member of the American Legion, serving as Commander for Walthall Post 56 from 1998 to 2003.
  
  While at PRC, Mr. Conerly met his future wife, Emogene Willoughby of the Sartinville Community. They married on August 21, 1951, and were the parents of three children. They loved to fish, raise cattle, and travel (especially RV'ing) and spend as much time as possible with family, particularly grandchildren! Bobby and Gene drove to Mexico City, traveled to all Canadian provinces, and 48 states-somehow overlooking Vermont and waiting for the "bridge to Hawaii" to be completed. Gene passed away in 1995, and Mr. Conerly married Mary Ellen Delaughter Rushing on June 4, 1998. She passed away in January 2011.
  
  Mr. Conerly is survived by son Robert Jeffery Conerly of Tylertown, daughters and son-in-laws Deborah C. and Ray Dillon of Little Rock, Arkansas and Sandra C. and Wendell Johnson of Angie, Louisiana; brother Jerry and Annette McCaffrey Conerly; sister Sue and Gary Armstrong, special-in-laws Louis and Gwen Willoughby Conerly and Eleanor Willoughby Brumfield and Lola Mae Stogner Conerly; grandchildren Jonathan and Heather Cormier Dillon of Little Rock, Amanda D. and Branch Fields of Little Rock, Gregory Dillon and fiancée Janie Tester of Branson, Missouri, Robert L. Dillon of Little Rock, Trey and Kimberly Graves Johnson of Angie and Trent and Amber Provost Johnson of the Dexter Community; one great-grandchild Charlie Kaiden Johnson; numerous nephews, nieces, cousins, two uncles and one aunt.
  
  Pallbearers will be Brent Conerly and Mac Conerly and grandchildren Jonathan Dillon, Amanda Dillon Fields, Gregory Dillon Robert Dillon, and Trey Johnson. Honorary pallbearers will be grandchildren Trent Johnson and Branch Fields.
