Bernie Regan

• Biography*: Funeral services will be held at 11:00 am on Saturday, April 02, 2022 at Hathorn Funeral Home in Columbia, MS for George Bernie Regan, 82, of Columbia, who passed away Tuesday, March 29, 2022 at Forrest General Hospital. Interment will be at Woodlawn Cemetery in Columbia. Rev Zach Smith and Rev Eddie Joe Holt will officiate the services. Visitation will be held from 5:00 pm until 8:00 pm on Friday, April 01, 2022 at Hathorn Funeral Home.
  
  During his 82 extraordinary years, Mr. Regan loved spending time with his family and friends. He could light up a room and never met a stranger. He was a member of the SEC Team of the Decade and was among the many players who won the 1959 National Championship while playing for the Ole Miss "Rebels". He remained an active member of the M Club after leaving Ole Miss. His hobbies consisted of hunting, fishing, playing dominos, and cooking for family and friends. He was a board member of the Hattiesburg Bridge Club and had achieved the level of Life Master. He was a loving husband, father, grandfather, and brother and will be missed by all who knew and loved him.
  
  He was preceded in death by his first wife, Quay Cory Regan; second wife, Debbie Sinopoli Regan; father, William Ollie Regan, Sr; mother, Marguarite Viola Smith Regan; brothers, William Ollie Regan, Jr., Maurice Regan, and Arlin Regan; sisters, Bobbye Joyce Stewart, Cheryl Hardee; and grandson, Jeremy Kirby.
  
  He is survived by his daughter Melanie Manly (Charles) of Carrollton, TX, and step-daughters, Martha June Kirby (Eddie, Sr.), Cherry Graves (Brian), Rayanne Cox (John); brothers, Don W. Regan, D. Stephen Regan; grandsons, Regan Manly, Austin Manly, Jackson Graves, Eli Graves, Eddie Kirby, Jr., Duke Kirby; granddaughters, Breleigh Knight, Bella Graves, Chloe Kirby, and a host of nieces, nephews, and friends.
  
  Pallbearers will be Dewey Lott, Ryle Regan, Brian Stewart, Charles Manly, Marty Regan, Maury Regan, and Tommy Welch. Honorary pallbearers will be Steve Ballew, Tommy McDaniel, Dexter Butler, Blane Haygood, Dave Bugay, Paul Bounds, and John McElroy.

  Shreveport, LA Barbara Jean Law Regan was born on May 19, 1940 in Oil City, LA to Henrietta and John Franklin Law. She went to be with her Lord and Savior on December 21, 2015 in Shreveport, LA. Her favorite Bible verse was John 3:16—"For God so loved the world that He gave His only begotten Son that whosoever believeth in Him will not perish but have everlasting life."
  
  A service celebrating the life of Barbara Regan will be held on Monday, December 28, 2015 at 11:00 a.m. at Trinity Heights Baptist Church, 3820 Old Mooringsport Road in Shreveport where she taught a women's class for many years. Officiating will be Reverend Kris Chenier. Interment will follow at Lakeview Memorial Gardens in Oil City, LA. Visitation with Barbara's family will be Sunday, December 27, 2015 at Centuries Memorial, 8801 Mansfield Road in Shreveport, from 5:00 to 7:00 p.m.
  
  Barbara attended Oil City Elementary and Junior High. She graduated from North Caddo High School in Vivian, LA. Following high school graduation, she began her college education at Northwestern State College (soon became NSU) in Natchitoches where she earned a Bachelor of Science in Business Education in 1964 and a Master of Science in Business Education in 1966. Her daughters located an article Barbara had written chronicling her education in which she said, "I loved my school years and earned almost all A's and B's. Everyone obeyed the rules and quickly learned that neither their teachers nor their classmates approved of their not following the rules." Barbara enjoyed cheerleading, playing basketball, and pitching on her softball team; she was also in choir and on the gym team. She excelled in business courses and was so impressed with her high school business teacher that she chose business education as her major. As an undergraduate, she was elected cheerleader and ROTC Cadet Leader.
  
  Barbara was offered and accepted the first business education fellowship at NSU where she taught typing and filing while completing her Master of Science degree. "I had planned to get a doctorate in business education in 1984, but God had a different plan—to start McDade House, the first hospital hospitality house in the United States in 1985, also referred to as a home with a heart. Thank God I was obedient." McDade House was named for an early donor within the McDade family.
  
  In addition to serving as Executive Director of McDade House since its inception, she taught several years at Centenary College in Shreveport and 20+ years at Bossier Parish Community College in Bossier City with many of those years as professor. Barbara was much loved by her students and fellow teachers.
  
  Barbara was preceded in death by her parents and by her adoring husband, Lt. Col. Maurice D. Regan, Sr. She is survived by her daughters, Kimberly Copley and husband, Glenn; Melissa Flournoy; and Jena Regan; grandchildren, Leighton Copley, Hunter Flournoy, Johnny Law Flournoy, and Kendall Dee Flournoy; her only sibling, Carolyn Law Daigle and husband, Joe; and other relatives and many friends.

  Clyde Regan,28 years old,was instantly killed Tuesday afternoon while engaged with others in operating a
  skidder pulling hardwood logs from Pearl River swamp for
  the Foxworth Veneer company at Foxworth.
  Regan's head was caught between two logs and his skull
  crushed while he was in a stooping postion,it was stated
  by one of the workmen.Mr.Regan was a son of Mr.and Mrs.
  Luther Regan and resided eight miles south of Columbia,
  near Cheraw.
  
  Besides the parents the survivors are four brothers,Percy,
  Frank,Sherwood and Ned all of Cheraw,and two sisters,Mrs.
  Clyde Fortenberry,of Cheraw,and Mrs.Ira Sutton,of Brookhaven.
  
  Funeral services were held at Hopewell Methodist church,
  twelve miles south of Columbia,Wednesday afternoon.the
  Rev.S.M.Young,pastor of Foxworth Methodist Church,
  officiating,followed by interment in Hopewell cemetery.
