• Biography*: Ministers Going Out from Bethel Church: J.H. Stowe, joined Bethel Church in 1866. Most notable among his activities, besides being Sunday School Superintendent, was the organization and leadership of a "Young Men's Prayer Meeting." During the years several young men were converted during these Sunday evening prayer meetings. Some have remained good Christians through the years. Mr. Stowe gave 20 years of valuable service to Bethel Church. He was licensed to preach July 19, 1884; entered the ministry of the Methodist Protestant Church; served 31 years in the pastorate, and several years on the Conference Faculty. He retired at the age of 68, died September 18, 1927, and his obituary appears in the Conference Journal of that year.
