  Kay Boyd West of Lumberton passed through Heaven's gate on Oct. 21, 2011, at
  the Southeastern Hospice House at the age of 53 years, 11 months and 1 day.
  
  A celebration service will be held at 7 tonight at Antioch Baptist Church, to
  be immediately followed by a time of visitation.
  
  She was born in Lumberton, Robeson County, on Nov. 20, 1957, to Kenneth E.
  Boyd Sr. and wife Barbara Tyson Boyd.
  
  Kay attended and was an active member of the First Baptist Church of Lumberton
  from the time of her conception until the year 1978, when she was received
  into the fellowship of Antioch Baptist Church. At First Baptist she was active
  in Sunday school, Bible school, children's choirs and then the youth group,
  where she was commissioned along with others of the youth group to do
  missionary work in Texas and Pennsylvania, and other places. At Antioch she
  was active in the choir, nursery, Sunday school and Bible schools for years.
  She was a member of the Good Samaritans Sunday School, of which her sister in
  Christ always showed her kindness, love, and comfort.
  
  On Jan. 1, 1978, she was married to Sam West at Antioch Baptist Church. On
  Feb. 12, 1985 she gave birth to son Carl, who was and still is the joy of her
  life.
  
  In her last days she was comforted by her church, hospital and hospice, so
  many they cannot be counted. Kay loved her faithful pastors, Revs. Mark
  Meadows, Keith Eggert, and Marc McFarland of Antioch Baptist Church. Her
  deacon and longtime friends, Charles Britt and wife Juanita Coleman Britt.
  Others special to Kay were Dr. Gail Leget of Whiteville, Dr. James McLeod of
  the A. J. Robinson Clinic; Dr. Jordan, Dr. Sawar of Southeastern Regional; Dr.
  Ahmed and Dr Walden of the Gibson Cancer Center; Dr, Lowery and Dr. Onime of
  Southeastern Hospice House; and especially Joyce Usher, nursing supervisor of
  the fourth floor at the hospital, whom she said was her Guardian Angel.
  
  She was preceded to Heaven's gate by her parents; a sister, Barbara Jane Boyd;
  grandparents, Lemuel Oscar Tyson and Ila Covington Tyson, and Samuel Davis and
  Ocie Pruitt Boyd; her father and mother-in-laws, Carl and Annie Pearl Todd
  West and Max and Virginia West Pulanco; and a great-niece, Briyelle Halo Ray.
  
  She was survived by her husband, Sam West of the home; a son, Carl West of the
  home; and two brothers, Ricky Boyd of Tar Heel and K.E. Boyd Jr. of South
  Carolina; sister- and brother-in-laws, Sheila Pulanco Russell, Maxine Pulanco
  Thomas, and husband Wayne Thomas, and Luis Pulanco.
  
  She is also survived by two aunts, Marie Tyson Townsend of Lumberton and
  Carolyn Baxley Tyson of Georgia; and an uncle, Lindsey Boyd and wife Rudie,
  both of Tennessee. She is also survived by the following nieces, nephews and
  great-nieces and great-nephews, Gilda Boyd Wall and husband Jody, and their
  children Taylor and Dean Wall of Wendell, Stephen Boyd, and daughter Kenly
  Boyd, Melanie Russell Willoughby and husband Kevin, and children Justin and
  Kayley Willoughby, Rick Russell of Mooresville, Steve Thomas and wife Nikki,
  and daughter, Briley Thomas, Felicia Thomas Nobles and husband Robbie, and
  their children Morgan, Walker and Dalton Nobles, Jennifer Pulanco Milner, and
  daughter, Kagney Milner, Allyssa Pulanco Ray and husband Tommy, and children,
  Malaya Presnell and Camiya Ray, Laura Pulanco, and son, Aidan Pulanco. She is
  also survived by a host of cousins and extended relatives. In addition she is

  Omarine Burns Rozier, 94, of Alexandria, Louisiana, passed away on Friday, July 25, 2014, at Grace Home in Alexandria, Louisiana. Mrs. Rozier was born in Bronson, Texas, on March 14, 1920. She was a registered nurse having received her training at Willis-Knighton Nursing School in Shreveport, Louisiana. She was a dedicated volunteer who gave back to her community. She served as the Past President of the Medical Auxiliary to the Rapides Parish Medical Society and as a Board Member of the YWCA and the Rapides Council on Aging, was a charter member of the Pink Lady organization at Huey P. Long Hospital, a member of the Pink Lady Organization of Rapides Regional Hospital and the Gray Lady organization at the VA Hospital. She was a member of the Service League of Alexandria, the Alexandria Garden Club, and the Republican Women's Club. Additionally, she served as a trainer for the Red Cross. Mrs. Rozier was preceded in death by her parents, Burtis Leon Burns and Eula Counts Burns; her husband, Dr. John Simpson Rozier III; her daughter, Elizabeth Ann Rozier and her sister, Marjorie B. Dyer. Those left to cherish her memory are her son, John Simpson Rozier IV and wife Judith of Alexandria and her daughter, Charlotte Rozier Aday and husband Thomas of Roanoke, Virginia; four grandchildren, Scott Aday and wife Catherine of Millis, Massachusetts, Katherine Rozier Fite and husband, Ryan of Austin, Texas, John Rozier and wife, Jessica of Orlando, Florida, and Anna Rozier of Baton Rouge, Louisiana; and seven great-grandchildren. The family would like to extend their appreciation to Dr. Michael Buck, Dr. Kelly Letsinger and the staff at Grace Home for their compassionate care. Services honoring the life of Omarine Burns Rozier will be held at 1:30 p.m. Monday, July 28, 2014, in the Bolton Chapel of Emmanuel Baptist Church of Alexandria.
