  Mrs. Bertha Valeria Pearce Bottoms, 90, of South Hill, VA, passed away on June 29,
  2023.
  
  Bertha was born August 26, 1932, in South Hill, the daughter of Clara Paetz Pearce and
  Thurman S. Pearce.
  
  Bertha is preceded in death by her husband, Bernard F. Bottoms, and brother, Wallace
  D. Pearce.
  
  Left to cherish her memories are her daughter Bette L. Bottoms and son-in-law Gary E.
  Raney of South Hill; sister Marie P. Stone of Wicomico Church; nieces Dana P. Ezell
  and Beverly S. Wine (Jeff Monroe); nephews Alan Pearce (Sandy Riepe), Jim Stone
  (Nancy), and David Pearce (Jan); and her kitty cat Callie. She had many friends and
  neighbors who made her life a joy in recent years, including Mable Jane Simmons,
  Emma Lou and Anne Banfield, Marcia Watson, Sue Justice, Sandy Simmons, Judy
  Spake, Tina Vaughn, Nell Rutledge, the members of Williams Methodist Church, and
  others.
  
  Friends are invited to a graveside service at Crestview Cemetery at 10:00 on Monday, July 3, 2023, and will be received at her home afterward. Farrar Funeral Home of South Hill is serving the family. In lieu of flowers, please send a donation in her name to help the animals at the Lake Country SPCA (11764 HWY 15, Clarksville, VA 23927.
