    "SHARON LAVONNE BARNES REGAN

    HOLDEN BEACH — Sharron Lavonne Barnes Regan passed away on Jan. 5 in Raleigh.

    Born in Wilson on Dec. 13, 1949, to Jimmy D. and Lena Owens Barnes, Sharron grew up in Fairmont where she was chief cheerleader and Homecoming queen at Fairmont High School. She received an associate degree from Southeastern Community College and graduated cum laude from Pembroke State University.

    After teaching kindergarten for 13 years in Fairmont, Sharron earned a Master of Library Science degree from East Carolina University in 1988 and spent the remainder of her career as a librarian/media coordinator at Lumberton Junior High. She was active in several professional organizations and was president of the N.C. Reading Association and the Robeson Council of the International Reading Association. She served on the Board of Directors of Friends of the Robeson County Public Library and the Robeson County Museum Association.

    In 1980 Sharron married John C. "Breck" Regan and they made their home in Lumberton until Breck, an attorney, retired in 2004 and they moved to Lockwood Folly at Holden Beach. He died in 2009. They were active members of Chestnut Street Methodist Church in Lumberton and Holden Beach Chapel.

    She is survived by her sister, Donna Hodges (Ed) of Fairmont; brother, Bobby Owens (Kathy) of Lumberton; niece, Rose Simmons (Gary) of Bolton; and nephew, Jim Hodges (Julie) of Fairmont. Her nephew Edward "Boo" Hodges Jr. of Fairmont predeceased her. Also surviving her are great-nieces/nephews, Hamilton Hodges and Matt Hodges of Fairmont, and Anne Bishop Hodges of Lumberton.

    She is also survived by stepdaughters, Susan Kitchen (Jim) of Chapel Hill, and Catherine Walsh (David) of Charlotte; grandchildren, Kenan and Karsen Kitchen, and Connor and Taylor Walsh; and also her sisters/brothers-in-law, Mary Regan of Raleigh, Maynette Regan and George Regan of St. Pauls, and Cabell Regan of Pittsboro.

    For several years Sharron faced Alzheimer's with courage and dignity. Anyone who would like to make a contribution in her memory might consider the Alzheimer's Association, 225 N. Michigan Ave Fl. 17, Chicago, IL 60601 or the Holden Beach Chapel, 107 Rothschild Dr., Holden Beach N.C. 28462.

    A memorial service is planned for a later time when Sharron's family and friends can gather safely to celebrate her life."

    WALTERS, JR., William Entered into eternal rest on afternoon of December 23, 2007, William Crayton Walters, Jr., husband of Caryl Piowaty Walters. Residence, Isle of Palms, SC. The relatives and friends of Mr. and Mrs. William Crayton Walters, Jr. are invited to attend the funeral services of the former, Thursday, December 27, 2007 at ten-thirty-o'clock in Sunrise Presbyterian Church on Sullivan's Island, the Dr. Vance Polley officiating. Family visitation will follow the service in the Church Fellowship Hall. Burial will be private. Mr. Walters was born July 20, 1933 in Lumberton, NC, the son of William Crayton Walters and Elizabeth Regan Walters. He was a 1955 graduate of The Citadel and served with the United States Air Force, where he became a Fighter Pilot. He later joined Eastern Air Lines and was a Captain and a Manager of Flying. He was part of the original development team of Wild Dunes Resort. He owned Island Realty and Beachside Real Estate, on the Isle of Palms, the latter which he was associated with at the time of his death. He was a member of Sunrise Presbyterian Church, Sullivan's Island. He is survived by his wife; three sons: W. Crayton Walters, III and his wife Louisa of Mt. Pleasant, SC, Dr. John F. Walters and his wife Martha of Mt. Pleasant, SC, and Lt. Col. Greg N. Walters and his wife Julie of Charleston, SC; two brothers: Regan Walters of Alpharetta, GA and Neil Walters of Myrtle Beach, SC; and eight grandchildren.     William Clayton Walters, Jr. was born July 20, 1933 in Lumberton, N.C. He was the son of William Crayton Walters and Elizabeth Regan Walters. He passed away Sun., Dec. 23, 2007. He was a resident of the Isle of Palms, South Carolina at the time of his passing. Mr. Walters was a 1955 graduate of The Citadel and served with the United States Air Force as a Fighter Pilot.
