  THOMASVILLE | Dorothy Swicegood Motsinger, 87, of Thomasville, went home to be with her Lord and Saviour Wednesday, Nov. 15, 2006.
  
  The funeral will be at 3 p.m. Monday at Fairview United Methodist Church, where she was a member, by Revs. Robert Wiseman and Steve Livengood. Burial will follow in the church cemetery.
  
  A lifelong resident of Davidson County, Mrs. Motsinger was born Nov. 16, 1918, a daughter of Thomas Richmond and Mary Beard Swicegood. She was a graduate of Midway High School and was retired from Thomasville Furniture Industries and Clyde Pearson Furniture. She loved her church and worked in many areas of the church. She was the choir director for more than 30 years, active with United Methodist Women, a Sunday School teacher, directed numerous weddings, enjoyed quilting, cooking and loved all people. She was preceded in death by her parents, brothers and sisters. On June 23, 1939, she was married to Hollis Motsinger, who preceded her in death on Feb. 4, 1982.
  
  Surviving are a daughter, Gail Motsinger Edwards and her husband, Mitch, of the home; and a sister, Lucille Swicegood Lanning and her husband, Bill, of Lexington.
  
  The family will receive friends at J.C. Green and Sons Funeral Home in Thomasville from 6 to 8 p.m. Sunday and other times at the home.

  A funeral service will be held at 11 a.m. Friday at Midway United Methodist Church with the Rev. John C. Woods officiating. Burial will follow in the church cemetery.
  
  She was born March 29, 1921, in Davidson County to Clyde L. and Esther Smith Nifong. Mrs. Motsinger was a lifelong member of Midway United Methodist Church where she was a member of the United Methodist Women. She graduated from Midway High School and from High Point College in 1942. She was a retired school teacher, teaching at Midway School from 1942 to 1952 and at North Davidson High School from 1953 to 1977. She served on the Board of Trustees, Davidson County Library. She was preceded in death by her husband, Robert E. Motsinger Jr; one brother, George A. Nifong; and a sister, Louise N. Motsinger.
  
  Surviving are two double nephews, Smitty Motsinger (wife Cathy) and Neal N. Motsinger (wife Gail) all of Midway; three great nieces, Hannah Louise Motsinger, Megan Alyce Motsinger and Emma Grace Motsinger; one brother-in-law, Francis C. Motsinger; five sisters-in-law, Rachel Nifong, Elizabeth Long, Helen Shoaf, Elsie Motsinger and Dorothene Oakley; and numerous nieces and nephews.

  He was born May 21, 1922, in Davidson County to Robert E. Motsinger Sr. and Myrtle Shoaf Motsinger. Mr. Motsinger was a longtime member of Midway United Methodist Church where he served as head usher for over 50 years. He was a charter and lifetime member of Midway Lions Club with perfect attendance. He held numerous positions in the local club and on the zone and district levels. Mr. Motsinger was co-founder of Motsinger Block Plant Inc. with his brother, Robert Motsinger. Preceding him in death was his wife of 60 years, Louise N. Motsinger; four brothers, Robert Jr., Arthur, Hollis and Raymond Motsinger; and one sister, Lillie Mae Motsinger.
  
  Surviving are his sons, F. Smith "Smitty" Motsinger and his wife, Cathy, and Neal Motsinger and his wife, Gail, three granddaughters, Hannah, Megan and Emma Grace, all of Midway; three sisters, Elizabeth Long of Midway, Dorthine Oakley of Thomasville and Helen Shoaf of Farmington; two sisters-in-law, Elsie Motsinger and Rachael Nifong, both of Midway; a number of nieces, nephews, great nieces and great nephews. Mr. Motsinger enjoyed farming, fishing, hunting, and his three precious granddaughters.
  
  The family will receive friends from 6-8 p.m. Friday at the church's Christian Fellowship Center.
