  On 20 Apr., 1665, Robert Ruffin, received a grant of 2,250 acres in Lawne's Creek Parish, "Beginning about a quarter of a mile to the southward of the road that goes from Augustine Hunnicutt's to Sunken Marsh Mill." The "Sunken Marsh" referred to is the marsh on "College Creek", and there was for a long time a grist mill in this vicinity. The mill is mentioned in Robert Ruffin's Will in 1693.
