The tax rolls indicate that he did not own land until 1910 when he was taxed for 50 acres west of Needville on Snake Creek. Shuman Everhart was born Feb. 24, 1864: died July 28, 1915: aged 51 years and 5 months. Mr. Everhart spent his life on his farm in Midway township where he was highly regarded by his friends and neighbors. Typhoid fever laid its rough hand upon him about four weeks ago, and this terrible disease was the cause of his death. The funeral was held from Midway M. E. Church last Thursday morning and was conducted by Dr. J. C. Leonard. Mr. Everhart was a member of the Enterprise Council Jr. O. U. A. M. and the honors of this fraternity were accorded at his funeral. He leaves a widow and eight children together with his aged father and for brothers. - Birth*: Shuman was born on 24 Feb 1864.
