    Funeral services for Dora Angell Smith, 94, of Tyler are scheduled for Sunday April 23, 2017 at 3:00pm with Reverend Sherman Mayfield officiating. Visitation will be held one hour prior to the service. Burial will be held in the Pinecrest Cemetery in Troup under the direction of Lloyd James Funeral Home. Mrs. Dora Smith passed away on Wednesday April 19, 2017, in Tyler. She was born on October 18, 1922 in Cameron, to the late Ed and Ida Angell. She married Reuben R. Smith, the love of her life on October 10, 1942 and had a wonderful 69 years together before his passing. They moved several times throughout his teaching career that eventually lead them to Troup and later on to Tyler. She was a homemaker and member of Bethel Baptist Church in Chapel Hill. Mrs. Smith was a loving mother, Mawmaw and friend to many. She enjoyed her life and loved her husband with all her heart. She will be deeply missed. In addition to her parents, she is preceded in death by her husband, Reuben Raymond Smith, daughter, Barbara Ann Smith Sadler, and her brother E.L. Angell. Survivors include a son, Larry Smith and his wife Kim of Tyler; along with two grandchildren Tori Smith Modisette and her husband Rick of Lindale; Hollis Smith Taylor and her husband James of Tyler; her sister Leola Roccato of Temple; her brother James Angell and his wife Julie of Katy; six great grandchildren; two step-grandchildren; and numerous nieces and nephews. Pallbearers will be Rick Modisette, Casen Modisette, James Taylor, Wes Shumate, Max Burch and Bryan Smith. Thank you to the staff of Meadow Lake and Hospice of East Texas for the incredible care she received. We will be forever grateful.     Reuben Smith

    Services for Reuben R. Smith, 95, of Tyler are scheduled for 3:30 p.m. Saturday, Sept. 29, 2012, at Bethel Baptist Church with Pastors Mike Ford and Ron Byrd officiating. Burial is in Pinecrest Cemetery in Troup under the direction of Lloyd James Funeral Home.

    Mr. Smith passed away on Wednesday, Sept. 26, 2012, in Tyler.

    He was born on Nov. 29, 1916, in Val Verde to the late John and Minerva Mayo Smith. He graduated from Texas A&M with a master's degree in vocational agriculture. Over the years, he was employed as the agriculture teacher in Lott, Hamilton, Moody, Hardin and finally Troup where he retired in 1977. He served in the U.S. Army from March of 1943 until February of 1946. While in the service he received the American Theater Campaign Medal, the Good Conduct Medal and the World War II Victory Medal. He married the love of his life, Dora Angell Smith, in Cameron on Oct. 10, 1942. He was a member of Bethel Baptist Church and the Retired Teachers Association. Reuben was a loving and devoted husband and father.

    He was preceded in death by his daughter, Barbara Smith Sadler; six brothers; and two sisters.

    He is survived by his wife of 69 years, Dora Angell Smith of Tyler; son and daughter-in-law, Larry W. and Kim Smith of Tyler; granddaughters, Tori Smith Modisette and husband Rick Modisette of Conway, Ark., and Hollis Smith Taylor and husband Staff Sgt. James D. Taylor Jr. of Twentynine Palms, Calif; great-grandchildren, Casen and Chloe Modisette and Cameron and Channing Taylor.

    The family will receive friends from 5 to 7 p.m. Friday at the funeral home.
