  On a letter dated 26 Aug., 1834 he wrote to his brother Philip living in Parke County, IN regarding the death of brother Michael's daughter Anna Maria in July of 1834, Michael requested that the letter be passed to Valentine Long. Part of the letter reads as follows: "Again I will here name another sad circumstance: Brother Michael's Daughter Mary departed this life, about the middle of July last. - Some time previous to her death, she had a child, which also died about two weeks after its mother."
