  A graveside service will be held 2:00 pm Sunday December 19, 2021 at Linwood United Methodist Church Cemetery with Pastor Charles Lindquist Jr. conducting services.
  
  The family will receive friends from 5:00 pm to 7:00 pm Saturday at Davidson Funeral Home Lexington Chapel.
  
  Steve was born February 29, 1944 in Davidson County to Bright Immanuel Sink and Annie Lee Fitzgerald Sink. He graduated from Catawba College, then received his Master's Degree in math from Wake Forest University and went on to become an outstanding math teacher. All of Steve's students enjoyed having him as a teacher and a friend. In his spare time , Steve was an avid fisherman, enjoying fishing for red drum at Cape Hatteras, leading the hunting and fishing club at Central Davidson and even helped build a few houses. After retirement he enjoyed taking care of and being devoted to his animals. Steve will be greatly missed by all those that knew him. He was preceded in death by his parents.
  
  Surviving are his wife, Teresa Jones Sink, of the home; his son, Adrian Sink of Lexington; a brother, Tommy Sink of Lexington; and a sister, Barbara Lister-Sink Pfafftown; and his niece Chloe Fitzgerald Plumb of New York City.

• Biography*: Note, Source: Davidson County Heritage book, page 518 : "Hoyle received his education in the public schools of Davidson County, NC. After elementary school, he had 5 months of schooling at a local high school before leaving to become a fruit tree salesman.
       In 1907, he obtained a teacher's certificate and taught school in Davidson County, NC. While teaching, he studied at night and in the fall of 1908 entered Bridgewater College. He graduated in 1910 with a A.B. Degree. During 1910-1912 he was the school principal in Mt. Jackson, VA.
       In the fall of 1912, he was invited to lecture to the officers of the Imperial Japanese Navy and remained there until the outbreak of WWI in 1914. During the following 3 years he was vice-consul in charge of the US Consulate in Amoy, China.
       In 1917, when the US entered WWI, he returned to this country and enlisted in the US Army, serving as a 2nd Lieutenant.
       After the war, he studied law at Wake Forest College, Wake Forest, NC. He was admitted to the bar of NC in 1918 and began the practice of law in Lexington, NC, where he continued until 1925. Then he was appointed Commissioner of Paroles and Executive Counsel to the Governor of NC. In the capacity he served as the first parole officer in the US after drafting the original bill passed in 1925 by the state legislature establishing the NC Parole Board.
       In 1927 he was appointed judge of the Superior Court of the 18th District of NC in Greensboro, NC. By election and subsequent re-election he continued on the bench until 1954.
       From 1954 until shortly before his death, he served the court on an emergency basis. In 1940 Judge Hoyle instituted a work release program for convicts in Mecklenburg County, NC."
