Mildred Collins Powers, 79, of Lumberton, NC, died on Wednesday, June 17, 2009 at Southeastern Regional Medical Center in Lumberton. She was born in Robeson County on September 28, 1929. Mrs. Powers worked as a telephone operator for Southern Bell.
She was preceded in death by her parents, Robert & Mary Herring Collins and her husband, James Norwood Powers; and three sisters, Christine Lamb, Loree Lee and Carol Hair.
Mrs. Powers is survived by her daughter, Lisa Connor and husband Steve of Fayetteville, NC; two brother-in-laws, L.W. Lamb and Howard Lee of Lumberton, NC; one sister, Jo Paul of Whiteville, NC; one grandson, Thomas Connor and two step grandchildren, Devon Connor and Laine Connor.
Funeral Services will be held on Saturday, June 20, 2009 at 4:00 PM at the Floyd Memorial Chapel with Reverends Floyd Helms and Merle Martin officiating. Burial will follow at Meadowbrook Cemetery in Lumberton.
The family will receive friends on Friday, June 19, 2009 from 7:00-9:00 PM at Floyd Mortuary & Crematory, Inc., 809 E. 5th Street in Lumberton.
