Stephen came from Craven County, NC but sometime during the late 1760's, Stephen went south and settled in Bladen County, NC. He was listed on tax records there in 1770.
About 1789, he owned property in southern Robeson County, NC and settled in what is known as the "Burnt Islands".
It is interesting to note that Stephen and Mary died together. Family tradition and an early edition of The Robesonian tell that they met their deaths by the hands of one of their house servants who poisoned them. - Birth*: Stephen Glare was born in 1740.
