    A funeral service will be held at 3:00 p.m. on Saturday, April 1, 2017 at Richard Boles Funeral Service Chapel officiated by Rev. J.W. Williams, Rev. Woody Byrd and Rev. D.J. Byrd. Burial will follow in Hillside Memorial Park. The family will receive friends prior to the service beginning at 1:00 p.m. on Saturday at the funeral home.
    Shirley was born in St. Pauls (Robeson County), North Carolina on October 24, 1940 to the late Ida Belle Bordeaux and Paul Dubon Wright. Her maternal grandparents were Stedman Claude Bordeaux and Della Jane Powell. Her paternal grandparents were John Bruton Wright and Elizabeth “Lizzie” Armenta Williamson. Shirley attended the schools in Laurinburg. She was a lifelong resident of and raised her family in Laurinburg. She lived briefly in Baltimore, MD, Laurel Hill, NC, St. Pauls, NC and Dallas, TX. She worked Laurinburg Bakery, Morgan & Jones Sewing Room, and 21 years at Dana Corporation (later Rostra Corporation) retiring after many years of service. She loved a variety of music, especially hymns and country. She loved working in her yard and flowers. She especially loved vacationing at the beach with her family. She attended South Laurinburg Pentecostal Holiness Church.
    Shirley was a lovely lady who found her calling in rearing her children and loving her grandchildren and great grandchildren. She loved many other activities, but most of all she loved her family and friends, and doing things for others.
    Shirley’s great -great grandfather Enoch Bordeaux was wounded in Petersburg, VA and died in Elmira Prison Camp during the Civil War. Her great- great grandfather, Simpson Wright was a medic in the Civil war and was awarded the CSA Cross of Honor. Her 5X great grandfather John William Fowler was a patriot in the Revolutionary War and was wounded at the Battle of Moore’s Creek. Her 12X great grandfather George Soule was a passenger on the Mayflower and signer of the Mayflower Compact, arriving at Plymouth, MA in 1620.
    She was preceded in death by her parents, her brother, Mitchell Paul Wright, Sr. and her sister, Janet “Jeanette” Carol Wright Locklear (Willard).
    She is survived by her beloved children and grandchildren: daughter, Debra Diane Byrd Ring (Jeffrey), Laurel Hill, daughter, Sharon Annette Pate, Laurinburg; son, Danny Lee Pate (Sandra), Laurel Hill, son, Timothy William Pate, Laurel Hill, son, Christopher Paul Pate, Laurel Hill, and raised as her son, Mitchell Paul Wright, Jr. Her grandchildren are Richard Allen Johnson (Michele); Crystal Dawn Johnson, Heather Nicole Clanton Newton (Robert), Tiffany Dawn Pate, Jamie Denise Pate Johnson (Brian) Emily Grace Pate, Kaysee Mashell Britt, Dustin Hayward Holcombe, Autumn Michelle Pate Frizzell, Chasity Leann Heider, Aaron Joel Pate, Brittany Sierra Pate, and Bradley Paul Pate. She also leaves behind her former husband, William Alexander Pate of Laurel Hill, sister Judy Ann Wright Hunt (JC) of Laurinburg, brothers Gene Thomas “Tom” Wright (Betsy) Florence, SC, and Kenneth Ray Wright (Marguerite) Laurinburg; and many great grandchildren, cousins, nieces and nephews.

Martha Wright furnished the information, and the relationship of the provider of the information was Grandma. I didn't know that Grandma's name was Martha. Someone probably made a mistake with her name. Jeanette was born at home. The attendant was Edna Thomas, a midwife. The registrar was Dr. M.T. Foster. Paul was listed as 25 years of age, and Ida Belle was listed as 21 years of age at the time of Jeanette's birth. Jeanette's address, while she was married to Willard, was Rt.1, Box 155/A, Gibson, NC. Dr. Lloyd McCaskill was the physician who examined Jeanette when she died. Jeanette was buried in the Locklear Family Cemetery, Rt. 1, Gibson, NC. The cemetery is located behind Jeanette's house on Rt. 1, Gibson, NC. Jeanette was 45 at the time of her death. Jeanette's name on her birth certificate is Janet Carol Wright.
