- Biography*: Jane had a vibrant personality and an extremely close and faithful circle of friends developed over her school and work career. She was a member of Parkland High School’s Class of 1970, where she was a Dixie Deb. Jane graduated from Forsyth Technical Community College in June 1973 after serving as the Class President. Upon graduating, she began a very rewarding career with Piedmont Aviation, Inc. ultimately as Executive Secretary to Joseph Healy, Senior Vice President-Legal Affairs and Corporate Secretary. After Piedmont’s merger with US Airways, Jane opted to remain in Winston Salem to aid her mother and became a Marketing Representative for US Airways Club. Late in 1998 Jane left the corporate world behind to join Hospice and Pallative Care Center first as an Administrative Coordinator at the Kate B. Reynolds Hospice Home and later as the Event Coordinator for the Public Relations Department until for reasons of health she left in June 2003. Not quite ready to call it quits, Jane took a position as Assistant to the Chair of Wake Forest’s Math Department in September 2004 where she energetically interacted with students and faculty until her health ultimately forced her retirement in December 2010. Jane is survived by her husband, sister-in-law, numerous dear cousins and plentiful friends who are like family. Jane’s strength and courage during her long battle with cancer will always be an inspiration to all who knew her.

Amanda Allen Butler, 50, of Clarkton went to her eternal home on Saturday, May 20, 2023, while at Cape Fear Valley Medical Center in Fayetteville. She was preceded in death by her maternal grandparents, Rob and Sophie Bordeaux, Yvonne Pait and paternal grandparents, Steven, and Ruby Allen. Left to cherish her memory are her parents, Willie Allen and Alice Bordeaux of Elizabethtown, her fiancé Nye Marzocchi of the home, son Travis Grant Butler of Elizabethtown, and two aunts Patricia Brisson of Bladenboro and Robbie Dove (Donald) of Bladenboro.
Amanda was a compassionate, giving lady. She spent her life helping others. She began her career in healthcare as as an EMT for about eight years while studying to earn her registered nursing degree and then went on to teach nursing courses through Bladen Community College. Amanda cherished spending time at home with her family, her beloved animals, and her friends. She also loved gardening and relaxing on the beach. Amanda will be forever remembered for her sweet smile, her ability to put others before herself and for always giving one hundred percent in everything she did.
The family will receive friends from 7-9 pm on Tuesday, May 23, 2023, at Bladen Gaskins Funeral Home in Elizabethtown. A funeral service will be held at 3:00 pm on Wednesday, May 24, 2023, at Purdie United Methodist Church in Tar Heel with the Reverend Al Marshburn officiating. A burial will follow the services in the Bordeaux Cemetery on Owen Road in Elizabethtown.
In lieu of flowers, memorials may be sent to the St. Jude's Children Research at Alsac/St. Jude Children's Research Hopital, 501 St. Jude Place, Memphis, TN 38105.
