Biography*: Note from Betty Lewandowski: "We have in our archives collection accession # 688 from the District Home. It was opened in 1928 and combined area alms and poor houses. The home closed in the late 90's, not sure of the exact time. The home housed elderly, indigents and the disabled. In a ledger of District Home Residents, I did find an entry for your ggrandfather Lawrence R. Goodman. He was resident # 387 and he was admitted on Febuary 6, 1940. It's written that he was 70 yrs. old and came from Charlottesville, Virginia. He died on October 7, 1940 and is buried at the District Home Cemetery grave #104."
