  • Biography*: Lora Allen was the second daughter of Daniel G. Allen and Ella Jane Taylor. She was born in the old Allen house a mile north of Dublin, N.C. on highway 87. She married Daniel J. McDaniel and had a daughter, Josephine, at the age of 23. She died about a month after giving birth.

    She was active in the Dublin Bethel Church, especially the Women's Missionary Society. She was known as a friendly, out-going person by her friends and neighbors. She enjoyed needlework and make several outfits for her daughter before she was born. Lora attended Dublin Elementary School and graduated from Tar Heel High School in 1923 . When she was old enough, she became her father's chauffeur, driving him around Bladen County and other places he needed to visit. Lora was very close to her aunt Mary Taylor.
