He was a graduate of Bernice High School and Louisiana Tech. He was past partner of Pearson Jewelers. He taught at West Monroe Junior High School from 1959-1960 and was a volunteer with the Junior Achievers and a founding member of the Corney Creek Hunting Club. He was a member of the First Baptist Church of West Monroe for 45 years, where he served as a deacon for 22 years, and a member of the Summerall Life Group. He served as West Monroe Alderman from 1974-1978. He was also a 17 year veteran of the West Monroe Police Reserves.
  
  He was preceded in death by his parents, Zula Mae Beaird Pearson and Eugene Pearson of Bernice.
  
  He was survived by his wife of 46 years, Alice Pearson; one daughter, Dessie Pearson Thrailkill and husband Tim of West Monroe; four sons, Darryl Pearson, Devery Pearson and wife Kim of West Monroe, Robert Pearson and wife Jessica of Columbia, and Bill Pearson and wife Anna of West Monroe; his sister, Mary Alice Pearson McIntyre and husband Marion of Delhi; his brother, Herb Evans and wife June of Hamburg, AR; a sister-in-law, Kaye Turnage Baber; a brother-in-law, Will Turnage of Murfreesboro, TN; 12 grandchildren, and nieces and nephews.

  Darryl was born November 7, 1959 in Bernice, LA and passed away August 3, 2015 in West Monroe, LA. After growing up in West Monroe and graduating from West Monroe High School Class of 1977, Darryl moved to Houston, TX and trained as a bench jeweler where he honed his craft for 15 yrs. In fall of 1993 Darryl returned home to West Monroe where he partnered with his mom, Alice Pearson, opening Pearson’s Jewelers. Due to health problems in Oct. 2014 Darryl was forced to close the business after 21 yrs.
  
  Darryl was preceded in death by his father, Billy Gene Pearson, both grandparents, Eugene and Zula Beaird Pearson, and Jay and Irene Bell Turnage.
  
  Survived by his constant companion, Digit his Yorkie, mother, Alice T. Pearson, daughter, Amanda P. VanAlstyne (Charles), granddaughter, Audry VanAlstyne and expected granddaughter Raelyn VanAlstyne in November, of Conroe, TX, and daughter, Laura Pearson, grandchildren, Piper and Parker Thompson of Spring, TX, sister, Dessie Pearson Thrailkill, Monroe, brothers, Devery Pearson, Dallas, TX, Robert A.   He was a graduate of Louisiana Tech and a member of the Lambda Chi Fraternity. He was a lifelong cattleman and you could find him in the hayfield when the season came around. Mark enjoyed fishing and taught both his daughters at a young age. His gardens were always plentiful and his love of outdoor photography showed just how much he appreciated nature. He was a simple, kind hearted man. In his last week here with us, Mark took a trip to TX to enjoy with his oldest daughter and left this earth while working on his youngest daughter's deer stand. His wife and his daughters were his world and he gave them the most beautiful farm to grow on. They are and will forever be thankful for the time he allowed them to be a part of his life.

  Mrs. Elkins was born November 24, 1913 in Aurelle, AR. She was a retired farmer and homemaker. Mrs. Elkins, a member of Mt. Union Baptist Church, passed away Sunday, January 27, 2013.
  
  She is preceded in death by her husband, Toy Elkins; parents, Furman and Mollie West; 6 brothers, Oran West, Wilmer West, Conway West, Eric West, Kenneth West and Rex West; 5 sisters, Dorothy West Salzer, Iris West Tyndall, Laverne West Pine, Lynette West Cranford, and Sylvia West.
  
  She is survived by her son, Ronnie Lane "Goose" Elkins and wife Betty Prewitt Elkins, her grandson Stan Elkins and wife Sheryl, 2 great-grandsons, Triston and Canyon Elkins and a host of nieces and nephews.
  
  Pallbearers will be Rodney Pine, Ben West, Truett West, Tim West, Steve Jones, Dwight Tyndall, Tom Elkins, Triston Elkins, Canyon Elkins, Kenny Cranford, Steve Tyndall, Mark Tyndall, and Greg West.
