  • Biography*: Pershing Bright was born in the Lewisville, AR, area in a small community. He was a WWII veteran and earned two purple hearts and a bronze star.

    Mr. Bright was a great man. He was a butcher by occupation and a very good one. He had a terrific personality and, even if he may have been hurting inside, was always cheerful and teasing and laughing and talking. He had a great sense of humor and loved his family. He was an especially quick-witted man. He worked for Edmond's Grocery in Minden, LA, when I knew him between August, 1958 and February, 1961. His son, Roger, was a classmate of mine at Minden High School, MHS class of 1961.

  • Biography*: Larry Ted Bright, 69 of Springhill, Louisiana died Thursday, July 24, 2008 at the Fountain View Care and Rehab Center in Springhill.
    He was born August 18, 1938 in Lewisville, Arkansas to the late William Bassett and Maudie Vivian (Houk) Bright.he was employed with the container division with International Paper. Larry was a big outdoorsman; he enjoyed hunting, fishing, camping and the mountains. he loved spending time with his grandchildren.
    He was Preceded in death by his parents; wife, Mary Russell Brown Bright; granddaughter, Baylee Danielle Bright; and daughter, Becky Brown.

    Survivors are his daughters, Karen Bright Stephens and husband Dub of Springhill and Kim Crawford and husband Mike of Marshall, Texas; sons, Jerry Ted Bright and wife Tammy of Detroit, Texas and Mark Brown and wife Sheila of Savannah, Tennessee; grandchildren, Garon, Ethal, Eric, Christy, and Chantelle; brothers Donald Bright and wife Ann of DeQueen, Arkansas and Byron Bright and wife Ann of Waco, Texas; numerous nieces and nephews,

    Funeral service will be 2:00 p.m. Sunday, July 27, 2008 at Lewis Chapel with Bro. Charles Wooley officiating. Burial will follow at Stateline Cemetery under the direction of Lewis Funeral Home, Inc. of Springhill.
    Visitation will be Saturday from 5:00 to 9:00 p.m. at the funeral home.

    Pallbearers will be Mike Bright, Byron Bright, Jimmy Farrington, Sony Houk, Jimmy Tyler, and Gary Mitchell. Honorary pallbearers will be Pat Boyett, Billy Boyett, Mike Crawford, Eric Crawford, and Garon Hignight.

    Baylee was born May 20, 2003 and died May 22, 2003 at Presbyterian Hospital in Dallas, Texas.
