  • Biography*: Junior Wilton Beard, 94, of Newport, formerly of Fayettville, went to be with his Lord and Savior, Sunday, April 19, 2015, at Crystal Coast Hospice House.

    Funeral services will be at 2:00 p.m. Friday, April 24, 2015, at Graham Memorial Pentecostal Holiness Church, 3448 Mill Creek Road, Newport, with burial to follow in the church cemetery, with Rev. Wylie Hughes officiating.

    Junior was born October 1, 1920, in Clarkton, NC, to James Peter and Theresa Harrellson Beard. He spent his adult life in Fayettville, where he worked at Stone’s Texaco for over 26 years. He was well known for his work ethic and his wit and smile. He was an avid gardener, and was known for his collard patch, which he worked by hand until his health began to fail at age 90. Junior was faithful to his family, but more importantly, to his Lord.

    Junior is survived by his daughters, Myra Elizabeth B. Cowart, of Starke, Florida and Delores B. Grohmann, and husband, Hank, of Newport; step-children, Karen Maness, of Greenville, Michael Wright of Dunn, and Chris Wright, of TN; sisters, Jessa Lee Lang, of Devine, TX, Nellie Daniels of TN, and a brother, Dewitt Beard of Durango, CO; 13 grandchildren, 18 great-grandchildren, and 17 great-great-grandchildren.

    The family wishes to extend gratitude to Cindy Chadwick and Nancy Edge for the kindness shown to Mr. and Mrs. Beard during their time living in Fayettville.

    In addition to his parents, his wives, Eva Bain Beard and Juanita Blaylock Beard; daughter, Barbara B. Chadwick; son-in-law, Johnny Cowart, Jr; brother, Harvey Beard; sister, Magdalene B. Osborne; and two grandchildren, Billy Chadwick and Bobby Chadwick, preceded him in death.

    The family will receive friends at the church on Friday from noon until 2:00 p.m.

    Funeral services for Mrs. Ruth Nadine Rozar, age 86, of Fayetteville conducted at Higgins Funeral Home with Bro. Don Hudson officiating. Burial in Booneville Cemetery beside her husband Willie B. Rozar who passed away in 1974. Mrs. Rozar passed away Wednesday morning in Lincoln Care Center.

    She was a native of Lincoln County and the daughter of the late James Odie and Essie Mae Hill Honey.

    Mrs. Rozar was a retired employee of Serbin Fashions and a member of the Stoney Point Church of Christ.

    Survivors include a daughter Billie Bryant of Howell, two sons, Mike Rozar and wife Dianne of Taft and Ray Rozar and wife Judy of Fayetteville, brother James Odie Honey Jr of Taft, sister Doris Jean Jennings of Indiana, eight grandchildren, and four great grandchildren.

    She was preceded in death by her husband Willie B. Rozar, son-in-law Lonnie Herman Bryant, sisters Betty Jennings, Nancy Shears, Mary Smith and Kathleen Williams.

  • Biography*: Funeral services for Billie Sue Rozar Bryant, age 67 of Petersburg, will be conducted Saturday at 12 PM at Higgins Funeral Home with Bro. Don Hudson officiating. Burial will follow in Booneville Cemetery beside her husband Lonnie Herman Bryant who passed away in 2009. Mrs. Bryant passed away Wednesday in St. Thomas Hospital.

    A native of Lincoln County, Mrs. Bryant was the daughter of the late Willie B. and Nadine Honey Rozar. She was retired from Redstone Arsenal and was a member of the Howell Church of Christ.

    Survivors include a son Kevin Bryant and wife Shannon of Petersburg, two brothers Mike Rozar and wife Dianne of Taft ad Ray Rozar and wife Judy of Fayetteville, three grandchildren Whitney Bryant, Shelby Towry and Raven Beard. Mrs. Bryant was preceded in death by her parents Willie B. and Nadine Honey Rozar, husband Lonnie Herman Bryant, and infant son Lonnie Troy Bryant, and son Marty Bryant.

    Visitation with the family will be Friday evening 4-8PM at Higgins Funeral Home.

    In lieu of flowers, the family request memorials to the Howell Church of Christ.
