  Vidalia, GA - Mrs. Betty Jean (Blaxton) Humphrey, age 82 of Vidalia, died Monday, October 15, 2012 in Bethany Assisted Living in Vidalia after a brief illness. She was a lifelong resident of Toombs County, retired from Toombs County Manufacturing in Lyons as a supervisor and was a former member of the Band Boosters at Lyons Senior High. She was an active member of the Mt. Pisgah Baptist Church where she served as the secretary/treasurer for many years. She was a member of the Georgia Power Ambassadors and volunteered with the American Red Cross. She loved sports, was a gardener and an avid fisherwoman. She was preceded in death by her husband, J.C. Humphrey; parents, A.G and Mamie Beckum Blaxton; and siblings, Herbert Blaxton, Hubert Blaxton, Juanita Tyson, A.G. Blaxton, Cyril Blaxton, Sarah Blaxton and Mildred Blaxton. Mrs. Humphrey is survived by two children, Cecilia "Cil" Ashley and husband Robert of Tennille and Phil A. Humphrey of Vidalia; one brother, Thelbert Blaxton and wife Irpeel of Vidalia; two sisters, Joann Waters and husband Wallace of the Pendleton Springs Community and Elizabeth McLemore of Vidalia; one grandson, Jarrod Alexander Humphrey of Pooler and numerous nieces and nephews. The graveside funeral service will be held Wednesday, October 17th at 2:00 pm in Lakeview Memorial Gardens with Dr. Keith Tipton officiating.
