Mr. Sessoms worked for the Bladen County School system for over 30 years. He was a charter member of White Oak Fire Dept. and White Oak Ruritian Club. He was a life long member of Bethlehem United Methodist Church.
He was born May 01, 1922 to Henry and Lila Cain Sessoms in Bladen County. He was predeceased by his parents.
He is survived by his wife Elizabeth "Lib" Sessoms of the home; one son, Larry Sessoms of White Oak; two daughters; Vivian Sholar of White Oak and Peggy White of Lumberton; six grandchildren and six great grandchildren.
The family will receive friends Tuesday, December 9, 2008 from 7:00 until 9:00pm at Bethlehem United Methodist Church. A private burial will be held at 11:00 am prior to the service at 1:00pm on Wednesday, December 10, 2008, at Bethlehem United Methodist Church with Dr. Tim Reaves and Rev. - Biography*: CONOVER - Robert Henry Hammer Sr., 90, of Conover, died Monday, Jan. 17, 2005, at Catawba Valley Medical Center.
Born April 16, 1914, in Dade City, Fla., he was the son of the late Henry and Martha Hammer.
He had retired from the North Carolina Wildlife Resources Commission as a construction engineer. He was a member of First United Methodist Church in Conover and had served in the U.S. Army during World War II.
In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by four sisters, Marie Kinlaw, Ruth Bahn, Mary Lou Lee and Flowe Hammer.
Survivors include his wife of 61 years, Ruby Sessoms Hammer of Statesville; two daughters and a son-in-law, Sandra Yount and husband, Tommy, of Catawba and Diane Hammer of Denver, Colo; a son and daughter-in-law, Robert H. Hammer Jr. and wife, Rita, of Mooresville; five grandchildren, Robby Hammer, Rodney Yount, Giorgia Sumner, Michael Yount and Christine Hammer; and nine great-grandchildren.
A Service of Remembrance will be held at 2 p.m. Thursday, Jan. 20, 2005, in Drum Funeral Home Chapel in Conover. The Rev. Larry Cooley will officiate.
Burial will follow in Catawba Memorial Park.
The family will receive friends from 12:30 to 1:45 p.m. Thursday at Drum Funeral Home.
