Stella Lucille Dale

• Biography*: Stella Dale Waid went home to be with her Lord and Savior on June 14, 2015, at the age of 91. Stella was born on January 31, 1924 in Newport News to James and Minnie (Wagner) Dale. She graduated from Newport News High School in January 1941, and then went to work for the C&P Telephone Company, as a Telephone Operator, based out of Newport News. She quickly rose in the ranks to a Supervisor and traveled throughout Virginia where she met the love her life, Powell Waid. She lived in Newport News till May of 2010.
  Stella and Powell raised 2 children, Karen (Wayne) DeBlock and Roderick Waid. Stella was a member of Hidenwood Presbyterian Church in Newport News since 1958 where she served in several capacities: Choir, children's ministries, visitation, and was a member of the Chapel class until 2010.
  For well over 30 years Stella was active in Community Bible Study (CBS) Fellowship in both Virginia and in Colorado. She served in several capacities including core leadership and in helping with the children. CBS was a passion and love of hers, where she made many eternal relationships.
  Stella is survived by her daughter, Karen (Wayne) DeBlock, and 2 grandchildren, Kate and Jim DeBlock, sister in law Patty Waid, along with several nieces and nephews. Stella was predeceased by her husband Powell and son Rod Waid. She was the last of her generation in her direct family.
  Stella's family would like to thank the following groups of people who helped her so much while she lived in Colorado; the staffs at Victorian House, Center at Lincoln Rehabilitation Facility, Agape Hospice, and Parker Assisted Living at Morningstar. Additionally, the family would like to thank her special Community Bible Study friends who have always been so faithful to Stella. It is obvious to all that Stella was loved, and we thank you.
  In lieu of flowers, Stella's favorite charity was Billy Graham Evangelical Association at 1 Billy Graham Parkway, Charlotte, NC 28201, or a charity of your choice.
  Stella will have a private burial and then a memorial service will be held at Hidenwood Presbyterian Church, 414 Hiden Blvd, Newport News, VA 23606 on Friday June 19, 2015 at 1:30pm. A fellowship reception afterwards.
