  • Biography*: Fountain County Pioneer is Dead – Waynetown, April 18 – Solomon Livengood, 86 years old, one of the most prominent citizens of Fountain County died at his home nine miles southwest of here at 2:15 p.m., today after an illness of
    hardening of the arteries. He was a splendid citizen, and a well-to-do famer.
    Mr. Livengood was born on January 1, 1834 in Davidson County, North Carolina and was the son of Thomas and Eve Shuler Livengood. He married Elizabeth Day on September 16, 1850. He was a prominent member of the Lutheran Church. He moved to Jackson Township, in Fountain County with his parents when one year old and lived all his life within a mile of where they located.
    Mr. Livengood is survived by his wife, three sons, V.E. Livengood, A. T. Livengood and Oro Livengood, of Covington; two daughters, Mrs. Jane Booe, of Crawfordsville, Mrs. Elbert McKee of Wallace; one sister, Mrs. Betsy Shobe of Kingman; one brother, T. I. Livengood of Waynetown; one half brother, Alfred Livengood of Wallace; and one half sister, Mrs. Lon Ingersoll of Waynetown.
    The funeral was held from the Wallace Lutheran Church at 10:30 a.m. Tuesday, April 20, and was in charge of the Reverend Weike, the Lutheran minister. Interment was made in the Lutheran cemetery nearby.

    Waynetown, Dec 1 - Thomas I. Livengood prominent retired farmer and Wayne township's oldest resident died at 4 o'clock this morning at the home of a daughter, Mrs. T.A. Parker half a mile east of Waynetown on St Rd. 34. Mr. Livengood a lifelong resident of Montgomery and Fountain counties had been in failing health for several months but became seriously ill only two weeks ago. A complication of diseases attendant upon old age caused his death. The well known retired farmer was born Feb 1, 1840 in Jackson Twp, Fountain County, the son of Thomas and Eva Shuler Livengood. He was married 3 times, first to Elinor Ingersoll. At the time of the marriage, the couple settled on a farm four miles southwest of Waynetown where Mr. Livengood lived as long as he was able to operate the farm. There, Mrs. Livengood died in 1866. He later was married Oct 1, 1871 to Martha Lucinda Young, who died Nov 8, 1921, only a little more than a month after the couple celebrated their golden wedding anniversary. Mr. Livengood was again married Dec 1, 1924 to Mrs. Rhoda Wade, but she died the following year on March 13. Mr. Livengood was a member of the Myers Lutheran Church near Wallace. He had lived in Wayne Twp for the past 59 years, retiring as a farmer more than 10 years ago. Since that time, he has lived with sons and daughters in and around Waynetown. Survivors include 3 daughters, Mrs. TA Parker at whose home he died; Mrs. Hanma? Stockdale of Waynetown; and Mrs. WF Parker of Crawfordsville; two sons Guy V. Livengood of Waynetown; trustee of Wayne Twp; and Verne Livengood, cashier of the Citizens National Bank at Crawfordsville; 7 grandchildren 4 great grandchildren, a half sister, Mrs. Elmina Ingersoll of Waynetown and a half-brother, Alfred Livengood of Crawfordsville. A short private service for members of the family will be held at 12:30 o'clock Tuesday afternoon at the TA Parker home near Waynetown. The body will then be taken to the Waynetown Christian Church where it will lie in state from 1 until 2 o'clock Tuesday afternoon. Services will be held at 2 o'clock at the church, with Rev. JH Wilson pastor of the First Christian Church at Crawfordsville in charge. Burial will be in the Waynetown Masonic cemetery.

  • Biography*: "David Livengood, farmer, Hillsboro was born 4 September 1841 Jackson Township, Fountain County. Parents are Thomas & Eve (Shuler) Livengood - came from North Carolina to Fountain County settling Jackson Township 1833.

    When David was of age, his father gave him 40 acres which he sold & bought 80. He now occupies in Sec 1. 6 February 1864 he married Helen M. Marsh - her parents from Ohio. Five children: Elgetta, Ida May, Rosa Olive, Ben F & aramenta who d. in infancy. Mrs. Livengood died 17 APril 1876. Then married Bellzora E. Walden 1 March 1877; one child, Charles R.

    Mr. Livengood is an elder at Lutheran Church near Jackville (Wallace). Dem. House burn in 1879 - household good a total loss.

    Belzora's brothers and sisters were: Alminda Geris (male) Scott Adelia Frank Don't know anything else at all except Bellzora died in 1917 - the Livengoods had two children, Charles & Lesta." - History of Fountain County, Indiana, H.W. Beckwith, 1881.
