  A funeral will be held at 4 p.m. Monday at Piedmont Funeral Home Chapel by the Rev. Jerry Wilkes. Burial will follow in Greer’s Chapel United Methodist Church Cemetery.
  
  The family will receive friends from 2:30 to 3:30 p.m. Monday prior to the service and other times at their respective homes.
  
  Mrs. Lanning was born Jan. 27, 1917, in Davidson County to John Lindsay McBride and Mary Louise Barnes McBride. She was a retired clerk with the N.C. Finishing Co. and a member of Churchland Baptist Church. Preceding her in death was her husband, John H. Lanning, who passed away in 1975; son Dale Lanning; two brothers; and five sisters.
  
  Surviving are two sons, Donald L. Lanning (Jean) of Rock Hill, S.C., and John B. Lanning (Jan) of Huntersville; daughter-in-law Shirley Lanning of Mount Ulla; nine grandchildren, Rod Lanning of Houston, Texas, Tad Lanning (Lisa) of Rock Hill, S.C., Mitzi Green of Charlotte, Melissa Taylor (Don) of Gulf Shores, Ala., Casey White (Tim) of Mount Ulla, Rita Marshall (George) of Salisbury, Anita Lagle (Jeff) of Mocksville, Travis Lanning (Angie) of Denver, N.C., and Lindsay Lanning (Christine) of Huntersville; 19 great-grandchildren; and five great-great-grandchildren.
  
  Memorials may be directed to Churchland Baptist Church, 7516 S. N.C. Highway 150, Lexington, NC 27295.
