Biography*: Mr. William Jay Clodfelter, 92, of N. Clodfelter Rd. went home to be with his Lord and Savior Sunday, October 19, 2014 at Forsyth Medical Center.

He was born December 23, 1921 a son of the late John William Clodfelter and Dora Wyre Clodfelter.

Mr. Clodfelter was a veteran of the United States Army, having served in the infantry during World War II and received Purple Heart medal, French Legion of Honor Medal, three Bronze Battle Stars while serving in Anzio, Southern France and Rhineland. He was a lifelong member of Shady Grove United Methodist Church, member of Lena Johnson Sunday School Class, and avid rabbit hunter, loved the Atlanta Braves, church softball games and loved all kinds of sports.

He was married April 6, 1947 to Mary Alice Weavil.

He was preceded in death by two sisters, Dorothy Kennedy and Sue Kiger; two brothers, John D. Clodfelter and Billy Joe Clodfelter.

Surviving his wife of 67 years, of the home; one daughter, of Winston Salem; three sons, six grandchildren and six great-grandchildren.

Funeral services for Mr. Clodfelter will be held 3 p.m. Wednesday, October 22, 2014 at Shady Grove United Methodist Church with the Rev. Joe Westfall, Rev. Jeremy Pegram and Rev. Leigh Bartoli officiating. Burial will follow in the church cemetery with full military honors.
