  Mr Myers Joined the U.S. Army in November of 1948 and retired in November 1973 at Fort Riley as a Sergeant Major. He Served in the artillery on various Army posts around the world. He helped fire a 21-gun salute for President John F. Kennedy in Berlin on June 26, 1963, when Kennedy delivered his "Ich bin ein Berliner" speech. He later served as a sales Representive for NS Meyer before retiring in December 2000.
  
  He was born October 16 1931 in Lexington, NC to Robert Frank Myers And Della Nance Myers. He graduated from Lexington High School. He moved to Topeka, KS in March 1993.
  
  Mr Myers was a member of the Enlisted Association; Sgt Major Association; Union Lodge No.7 AF&AM in Junction City; and a life member of the Constabulary Association, the peace keeping force in Germany after World War II.
  
  He married Gertrud Volk on September 20, 1949, in Augsburg, Germany. She survives. He is Survived by two daughters, two sons, and eight Grandchildren.

  The funeral will be at 11 a.m. Monday at Good Hope United Methodist Church, where she was a lifelong member, by the Rev. Chris Bennett. Burial will follow in the church cemetery.
  
  Mrs. Myers was born March 20, 1916 in Davidson County to Joe L. Hege Sr. and Myrtle Robertson Hege. She worked in the sewing department at Sears and Roebuck for many years and retired from North Davidson High School, where she worked in the cafeteria. She held numerous jobs in her church over the years including teaching Sunday school. She was an active member of the Senior Friends of Good Hope, United Methodist Women and a past president of the Unity Circle. She was one of the last known survivors of the Hill's one-room schoolhouse. She was deeply devoted to her family, church and community. She was a faithful friend. Her husband of 34 years, Robert Silas Myers, preceded her in death, as well as her brothers, Roger Hege and Joe L. Hege Jr., and her sister, Virginia Mock.
  
  She will be remembered for her faith and commitment to God, her warmth, the way she helped others, her courageous spirit and her zest for life.
  
  Surviving are her brothers, Hubert Hege and his wife, Mary Lillian, of Lexington, and John Ray Hege and his wife, Frances, of Clemmons; and her sister, Lottie Taylor of Ohio. Although never blessed with children, Inez had a very large family of 14 nieces, 15 nephews, many great-nieces and great-nephews and great-great nieces and great-great-nephews.
  
  The family will received friends Sunday night at Davidson Funeral Home, Hickory Tree Chapel.

  John was born in Davidson County on Jan. 30, 1924, to Lawrence Walter DeLapp and Daisy Zimmerman DeLapp. He was a lifelong member of Good Hope United Methodist Church and served in many capacities on the local and district level. John was a retired employee of Pepsi, where he worked in sales for 33 years. He grew up on a dairy farm and continued to operate it his entire life. His pride and joy was the farm, where he operated a cleaning and seed business for many years and the farm later became a Centennial Farm in 1996. He enjoyed spending time with his grandchildren and sharing life's stories and lessons. He was preceded in death by his parents; beloved wife of 56 years, Margaret Myers DeLapp, on Aug. 26, 2008; sisters Maggie DeLapp Hege, Rose DeLapp Hedrick, Mary DeLapp Kimel, Dianna DeLapp Hege and Alice DeLapp; brothers Joe and Albert DeLapp.
  
  Surviving are his two sons, Robert DeLapp and wife Suzanne and John DeLapp and his children; Jonathan, Liz and Abbey DeLapp all of Lexington; many loving nieces and nephews.
