  A funeral service will be held at 2 p.m. Sunday at Reeds United Methodist Church with the Rev. Gary Foster officiating. Burial will follow in First Baptist Church cemetery in Welcome.
  
  Walter was born Aug. 22, 1941, in Davidson County to Emanuel Whitson Koontz and Sarah Jane Elverson Koontz. He was a retired machinist with Lacy Miller Machine and of the Baptist faith. He was preceded in death by his parents; his wife, Judy H. Koontz, who died in 1993; two sisters, Pauline Lomax and Mildred Snider; and one brother, Robert Koontz.
  
  Surviving are one son, Rodney A. Koontz and his wife, Deborah, of Lexington; two daughters, Angela K. Craver and her husband, James, of Welcome and Lisa K. Chrisley and her husband, Johnny, of Lexington; eight grandchildren, Shaina Craver, Tiffany Craver, James "Abby" Craver, Britany Koontz, Morgan Koontz, Taylor Chrisley, Ali Chrisley, and David Chrisley; three sisters, Edna Morgan of Salisbury, Arlene Hedrick of Tyro and Carol Burkhart of Lexington; three brothers, Jack Koontz of Cleveland, Gray Koontz of Churchland and Melvin Koontz of Rockwell.

  Was re-united with the love of her life on August 12th 2021. Her beloved husband of 59 years, Ernest D. (Pete) McMillan, predeceased her in 2012 and they are now dancing on streets of gold in heaven.
  Born in New Bern, NC Gladys was the only daughter of Ruth Elizabeth Cain & Joseph Rhem Ballenger. After graduating from New Bern High School, she moved to Fayetteville, NC where she met and married Pete and relocated to Jacksonville, NC.
  She served tirelessly at First Presbyterian Church in multiple capacities including being an ordained elder. She was also an active member of the Garden Club and served on the Jacksonville Beautification Committee.
  Known for her "green thumb", she was a talented flower arranger as well as an excellent cook and grandmother.
  She is survived by 3 children, Ernest David McMillan Jr. (Sabrena), Joseph Gregory McMillan (Virginia) & Penny McMillan Simmons along with 7 grandchildren: Brittany, Tatia, Annie, James, Joshua, Timothy, and Hannah in addition to 10 great-grandchildren.

  Arnold “Joe” Britt, 84, of Elizabethtown went to his eternal home on Sunday, November 14, 2021 at Cape Fear Valley Medical Center. He was preceded in death by his parents, Wilton and Grace Cain Britt, son, Edward Britt, sister Hilda Bullard and brother Wesley Britt. Joe leaves behind his adoring wife of 36 years, Bonnie Rising Britt of the home, mother of his children, Erlinda Vale; sons: Ron Britt of New York, Byron Britt (Tiny) of Fayetteville, and Bobby Britt (Debbie) of Elizabethtown, daughter Tolmy Butler of Dublin, brother Leverne Britt (Joann) of Spring Lake, six grandchildren: Jeremiah Britt (Autumn), Zackery Butler, Chloe Butler Shirk (Spencer), Gabriel White, Tyler Britt, and Noah Britt and five great grandchildren, Aydan Butler, Lily Haines, Adaira Shirk, Lincoln Shirk, and Addi Shirk.
  
  Joe was a hardworking, loving family man. He retired from the US Air Force and was accepted into the NC Softball Association Hall of Fame. Joe and his wife made their home here in Bladen County. He worked as the County Maintenance Manager and FFA Camp Manager. He enjoyed hunting, fishing, and tending his gardens. Joe worked hard for his family and his community and will be missed a great deal by all.
  
  A Memorial Service will be held at 2pm on Friday, November 19, 2021 at Bladen-Gaskins Funeral Home in Elizabethtown to honor Joe’s life.

  Peggy was born in Greenville, North Carolina as the only child of Hettie Mae Cain Ratley and Emmett Raeford Ratley. She moved with her family to Va. Beach when she was 3 months old and resided here until her death on October 29, 2020 at the age of 80 years old due to the complications of advanced lung disease.
  
  Peggy graduated from Princess Anne high School in 1958 and attended East Carolina University and Old Dominion University. She was a member of Alpha X Delta sorority and served as the alumnae director to the Old Dominion Chapter.
  
  She was a member of Old Donation Episcopal Church, The Lake Smith Garden Club, and many Real Estate related associations. She enjoyed snow skiing and tennis in her earlier years. She enjoyed spending time and sharing her love of horses on the farm where she lived with her daughter until her passing.
  
  Peggy was a licensed Realtor for 41 + years and especially enjoyed working with multiple generations of families, many of which have become lifetime friends. Sharing her wealth of knowledge of the area and guiding them with her expertise in the field motivated her passion for the profession.
  
  Widowed at a young age, with the loss of her dearly beloved husband, Theodore J. Economidis, she devoted her love and strength to her two children. She is survived by her daughter, Tracy Economidis of Virginia Beach and her son, Keith Economidis of Boulder, Colorado in addition to many furry grandchildren that she adored.
  
  Peggy was predeceased by her parents as well as her two Aunts that raised her, Jean Ratley Cunningham and Carol Ratley Miles.

  Joe Richard Allen beloved husband, father, brother died July 3, 2018 in his sleep. He was born June 24, 1946 and had just celebrated his 72 birthday. He had waged a fierce battle over the past 18 months with ALS. He is survived by his loving wife, Wanda Bullard Allen, sons, Joe Jr. and his partner Aileen Sellers, son Sam, granddaughters Olivia, Violet and Leah, brother Beam and sisters Ethel Vogel and Dan; Faye Weeber and Bill; niece, Lindsey Weeber and nephew, William Weeber. His parents were Minnie and JE Allen.
  Joe owned and operated Allen’s Tire Service and previously the fuel business servicing farms and homes around the Tar Heel area with his parents his entire life. He was a faithful, dutiful, and affectionate son, husband, father and brother. His funny stories of Tar Heel and White Oak characters and episodes were hilarious and provided many a laugh on a camping trip and on short excursions. He was a Southern story teller. Like his parents, he had loved his town and church, and hoped the best for them and for Bladen County. Loving the beach, to camp, travel and fish, he was always talking about where to go next, compiling a list, preparing for the trip and making a phone call telling you what he had, what was packed, and what fish he thought might be running. He would say, “My gear is at the ready!”.
  The family is forever grateful to Tar Heel and surrounding communities for your help dur- ing his illness. The family appreciates the food that was provided, the ramp that was built, the songs sung, the stories told, and the many visits from dear cousins, friends and neighbors always offering prayers and kind thoughts.
