Military*: William participated in the Military event between 10 May 1862 and Apr 1865. He enlisted as a Private on 10 May 1862. The Muster Rolls for July 1863 to Feb 1865, shows him absent, sick. This unit was heavily engaged at Gettysburg and he may well have been wounded there. There appear to be no later records. This unit was a part of the Army of Northern Virginia, C.S.A, First Army Corp (Longstreet's Corps), commanded by Lt. General James Longstreet, in Hood's Division (Major General John B Hood) and a part of Anderson's Brigade, commanded by Brigader General George T Anderson. His grave registration states he was in the 13th Mississippi, probably for pension purposes..⁵
