"Died in this place on the 3d inst., Mr. Samuel Shivers, Senr, in the 57th year of his age, after a protracted and painful illness of nine months. Mr. Shiver had been a resident of Camden for 33 years, and had ever conducted himself in such a manner as to become universally respecyed, and generally beloved. In the 28th year of his age, he professed the Religion of our Lord and Saviour Jesus Christ-attached himself to the Baptist Church in this place, and was soon after, elected Deacon, which office he held with honoe to himself and the Church; discharging the duties incumbent upon him with an eye single to the glory of God ant the good of souls. He has now gone to reap the reward of his labors." With this data in his obiturary, I assume that all of his children were born in Camden..
