Biography*: Following the Revolution, William Bailey, Sr. and Molley Sprunt Bailey migrated to Lancaster District, South Carolina, settling on Cedar Creek. Per several independant statements - Bailey Fleming & William Fleming Bailey were double first cousins and that he may have had a problem with alcohol.
Birth*: William was born in 1755 at VA .
Military*: William participated in the Military event in 1776. He served as a Revolutionary soldier, Halifax District, Warren County, which has been certified and accepted by DAR. Pay voucher # 1331 dated 9/1/1784 in North Carolina Department of Archives. Muster Roll records not available from National Archives in Washington or N. C. Cultural Resources..

Death*: Jacob died on 8 Dec 1868 at age 71.¹
Burial*: His body was buried. The home place is west of Tradesville with a family graveyard on SouthWest hillside near the bend of North Fork of Wildcat Creek. Both Jake and Mary are probably buried there..⁴

Biography*: Her maiden name is still not known, for sure. It has been shown as Raney, Laney, Brashington, and Brasington. Thier marriage date coincides with the immigration of Nancy Figuars Brasington and the depature from Camden of William and Ann Brasington. If she is a Brasington, she may have come with Nancy or may have been a daugther of William & Ann, who had a 16 to 26 year old female in thier household, per the 1810 Kershaw County Census. Her age does not appear to agree with 1820 Census. Lastly, she could have been a daughter of George and Elizabeth Brasington. A real mystery.

Devauld left Germany with his parents, 6 brothers, and probably 2 sisters, from Hamburg on the North Sea on "The Golden Beaver", which wrecked off the Carolina coast and all family lost but him. He was resued by a ship carrying German Immigrants, and brought to Charleston, and sold as indentured servant to a planter to pay passage. He ran away and settled among the germans of Lancaster County..²
