- Biography*: Minta McIntyre Cook, age 88, of San Antonio passed away peacefully surrounded by her family on Saturday, February 25, 2017. She was born July 8, 1928 in Lumberton, North Carolina to Eli Regan McIntyre and Lillian McIntyre Parsons who preceded her in death. In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband of 53 years, William D. Cook, Jr., her step-father, Jack Parsons (who was a strong influence upon her) as well as her brothers, Regan McIntyre and Douglas McIntyre. Douglas’ son and daughter-in-law, Mike and Dee McIntyre were very close and brought a lot of joy to “Aunt Minta.”
She attended Meredith College in Raleigh, North Carolina as well as Whitman Interior Decoration School in New York City. She met and married, William D. Cook, Jr. while in New York City. They eventually moved to San Antonio and began a family. Minta was an active member of Saint Mark's Episcopal Church for over 55 years. She served as the wedding coordinator for the Altar Guild and Daughters of the King.
Minta was a lover of animals and pets from dogs, raccoons, skunks and many other types of all sizes. She was also a tremendous seamstress in sewing clothes for her family and friends.
Minta is survived by her daughter, Jane Cook Baldridge and her husband, Larry; her sons, William D. Cook, III and Peter McIntyre Cook; grandchildren, Jennifer Kaylea Baldridge of New Braunfels, Elizabeth Minta Baldridge Johnston and her husband, Logan, Jason Bradley Baldridge and his fiancé, Taylor Linsay all of Charlotte, North Carolina and William Bryan Baldridge of San Antonio, Heather Bethany Cook of Tanegashima, Japan and Holly Amber Cook of UT Austin, Erica Allen Cook of Austin and Corri Ann Corey and her husband, Anthony of San Antonio; great grandchildren, Maddux William Johnston, Sawyer Matthew Johnston, Emery Avie Johnston, Palmer Logan Johnston and Scarlet Elizabeth Baldridge and Jared Moses, Ava Corey, Jackson Duffey and Anthony Corey, IV; and numerous nieces and nephews in North Carolina.
A Committal Service will take place at 1:00 P.M. on Saturday, March 4, 2017 at Saint Mark’s Episcopal Church, 315 East Pecan Street, San Antonio.
In lieu of flowers, her family requests contributions in Minta’s memory be made to:
