  Murray Carson Bain, 3800 Madison Avenue, died Wednesday, August 25, 2010. The funeral service will be held at 2:00pm Monday, August 30, 2010 in the Christ United Methodist Church Sanctuary. A service of internment follows the church service. Visitation will be held on Sunday, August 29, 2010, at the Guilford Chapel of Forbis and Dick at 5926 W. Friendly Avenue from 6:00pm until 8:00pm.
  
  He is survived by his wife Fanny Bain; former wife Susie W Bain, (Austin, TX), daughters Mrs. Betty Osborn and husband Bud, (Kent, WA), Mrs. Debby McCray, (Austin, TX), son Robert C.   Among the many associations where Carson Bain served, the Greensboro Jaycees was where he got his start in public life. He was GGO General Chairman in 1950, Jaycee President in 1951, and Honorary Chairman of the GGO in 1959. He is a former President of the Guilford County Board of Commissioners , a member of the Greensboro City Council, Guilford County School Board Chairman, and served as Mayor of Greensboro from 1967 to 1969. He was very proud to have been a part of planning and building the Greensboro Coliseum. He brought hockey to Greensboro. The Greensboro Generals gave him the opportunity to yell "Rabbit Ears" at the Charlotte Checkers goalie on numerous occasions. He was the recipient of the Order of the Long Leaf Pine, the highest honor bestowed in NC. Carson served as an officer in the Army Medical Corp. where he met and married the former Susie Marie Winston now living in Austin, Texas.
  
  He was born in Lexington, NC in 1917 and later moved to Greensboro in 1932. He graduated from Greensboro Senior (Grimsley) High School. He is the founding father of Bain Oil Company in Greensboro. He started his company by selling cooking oil door to door out of 5 gallon cans. He later bought a pickup truck to hold and haul the cans. When he had saved sufficient funds, he purchased one of the first pump trucks in the area and began selling fuel oil to homes in Greensboro.
  
  His affiliation with the YMCA began as a young boy. When he was a little older, he would give young boys movie money if they could recite verses from the Bible. The YMCA always held a special place in his heart. He is a life member of the YMCA. Carson served on the Board of Directors of both Bennett College and NC A&T University. He was also President of Piedmont Associated Industries.
  
  He loved fishing, golf, and people. One of his closest friends was Sam Snead. They teamed up many times to win the GGO fishing tournament. He was a member of Starmount Forest Country Club and the Greensboro Rotary Club. He was a 60 year member of Greensboro Lodge 76 AF & AM and is also a 32 Degree Member of the Greensboro Scottish Rite Valley. He is one of only two people to earn three green coats in the Green Coat Club associated with the GGO.
  
  He married Fanny in 1987. The family wishes to publically thank Fanny Bain for her tireless efforts in her role as primary caregiver for Carson Bain in his fight against Alzheimer's disease. With her 24/7 love and devotion, he was able to live at home for the 13 years he struggled with the disease.
  
  In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to the Alzheimer's Association, 122 N. Elm Street, Greensboro, NC 27401-2818, or to the Carson Bain Memorial Scholarship at the YMCA, 620 Green Valley Road, Suite 210, Greensboro, NC 27408.

Francis Timberlake

• Biography*: Note, Source: Peggy Feldstein: He was a Schoolmaster and Farmer before 1776, in Franklin County, North Carolina. He emigrated from Virginia to North Carolina before the Revolution.
  
  Francis was a private in the American Revolutionary War in the Light Horse North Carolina Militia and served 18 months under Captain William Hill and LT. John Robertson. He was discharged February 1778 in Augusta, Georgia, by Major Lee Dekugier. After another tour of between 3-12months in the North Carolina Light Horse, he received a discharge from LT. Swan Troughton on 12 July 1781. His son, Eppy at the age of 66 filed for a pension in September 1849 to be retroactive for the term that the Widow, Mary, was eligible. Pension #W19454 was granted to Eppy Timberlake and Ludith Layton for $50.00 per annum for the years1831-1841.
  
  North Carolina Census for 1790 shows "Frank Timberlake, head of family, having three sons under sixteen years of age and three females, includingwife and one slave".
  
  He died by being struck by lightening. There is a monument in back of the house in West Pleasants, North Carolina Family Cemetery, two miles east of Youngsville with sandstone markers.
  
  He owned land in 100 acres on Buffalo Creek, North Carolina, in 1788; 640 acres on Ceadar Creek on Davis Creek, North Carolina.
  
  Timberlake "Old Home" is three miles from Youngsville, North Carolina. Part of the old house, the kitchens and chimneys were still standing in1935, but an addition has been built to what is left of the old place.
  
  Francis and Nancy are buried in a corner of the yard of the "Old "Home, with only sandstones at each grave, except for a monument that has been placed in late years, at the grave of Julius.

Richard Timberlake

  He may have had two wives. Land he owned in 1772 was 2 acres on Little Cypress Creek at the Cross Roads, Bute County, North Carolina, which was willed to his grandson Richard Timberlake.
  
  In 1763 in Northcumberland County, Virginia Richard and George Ball, sold the estate of Francis Timberlake. The last Virginia record for Richard was a court record in 1769. He was a witness in Bute County, North Carolina in 1771, in Bertie County, North Carolina in1773. In 1774 he went to live at Cape Fear, North Carolina.
  
  He was in Franklin County, North Carolina in 1788, and witnessed the will of William Ward in Wake County, North Carolina in 1790.
  
  Richard's will was made 3 Nov 1811 and Probated Nov 1816. In his will there were seven head of cattle, five head of hogs and 2 bet, and furniture, household and kitchen furniture, consisting of pots, tables, chairs, pewter, spinning wheel and plantations utensils. He had two Treasurer's Vouchers for Revolutionary service in the North Carolina archives.
  
  Much was learned about the whereabouts of Richard in North Carolina from a suit brought before the Halifax, North Carolina District Superior Court of Law and Equity, on 28 Jul 1788. Richard, presently of Franklin County, North Carolina, asked the court for a writ of Supa, and injunction against Mary Sanders who was the administrator for her husband, Thomas, of Butte, County, North Carolina, who was killed in the Battle of Guilford. Richard said he paid for a horse purchased in 1773 and Mary said he did not finish payment. The testimony revealed that Richard and tow of his sons boarded with the Sanders for 6-8 months and shortly after he went to Cape Fear.

Francis Timberlake , Jr.

• Biography*: Francis Timberlake owned land in 1738, 200 acres in Wicomico Parish on Nathellings Branch, Virginia. He witnessed the wills of William Bell in1744, Christopher Garlington in 1753, William Garlington Sullivan in1761. He sued for debt, George Warrick, Joseph Ingram, William Garlington Moses Lunsford, for counter security on Estate of Thomas Hammond, deceased. Lunsford refused and Francis took over the Orphan's Estate. Francis was sued by Edward Kerr and George Kerr. Francis was guardian to Ezekiel Cammell, orphan of William who died in 1743. When Francis died in 1762, the two pages of his will inventory was 4 Negroes, 10 Delph plates, a case of pistols, holsters, sword and bayonet, a stilltub and worm, 1300 gallon casks, 7 tare tubs, 2 bushels peas, some rottencorn, 100 gallons cyder, a pair of silver shoe buckles, a neck buckle and studs, a pair of temple spectacles, the crop of tobacco unfinished and brandy, a canoe and a sundial.

  I give and bequeath my Soule to Almighty God that gave it to me in full and certain hopes of pardon and Remission for all my sins in and through the merits of my Dear Lord and Blessed Savior Jesus Christ, and my body to the earth to be buried at the Discretion of my Executors hereafter named and for what wordly goods it hath pleased God to bless me with.

Francis Timberlake , Sr.

• Biography*: It is said that in the late years of the 17th Century, three brothers, Francis, Richard and Joseph Timberlake came from England to live in America. They landed at Port Royal in Caroline County County, Virginia, and were often referred to as the "Port Royal Immigrants." From Port Royal, Francis and Joseph went to Middlesex County, Virginia.
