Paul Kelly Sr., 76, will be held at 4 p.m. Sunday at Dunbar Funeral Home, Dutch Fork Chapel, with burial with Masonic rites in Greenlawn Memorial Park. Visitation will be 6-8 tonight at the funeral home. Memorials may be made to Palmetto Baptist Hospice, St. Michael's Lutheran Church, or to the Shriner's Hospital for Crippled and Burned Children. Mr. Kelly died Thursday, April 9, 1998. Born in Elgin, he was a son of the late Logan and Lillie Kelly. Mr. Kelly came to Columbia and worked with Edens Food Stores for many years. He owned and operated Kelly's Open Air Market at Forest Drive and Beltline during the 1950s and 60s. Mr. Kelly retired from real estate, having worked with Tom Jenkins Realty for 18 years and Russell Jeffcoat Realty for 14 years. He was a member of Columbia Board of Realtors, State and National Boards, where he was a member more than 30 years. He received The Meritorious Service Award from The Greater Columbia Association of Realtors in 1997 and received the key to the City of Columbia. He served in the U.S. Army for three years during World War II, and was a member of the American Legion Post #6 for more than 48 years. He was a member of Acacia Masonic Lodge #94 for more than 50 years, the York Rite Masons, Jamil Shrine Temple, a life member of the Provost Guard and a member of the Royal Order of Jesters. He was a member of St. Michael's Lutheran Church. Surviving are his wife, Jane Rowland Kelly of Columbia; daughter, Sandra K. Brasington of Columbia; son, Herbert P. Kelly of Columbia; stepson, Thad R. Stratford of Columbia; brothers, Jesse E. Kelly of Columbia and Julian M. Kelly of Columbia; grandchildren, Berry Brasington and Lisa B. Bogart; and great-grandchildren, Ashley Brasington, Erika Brasington and Jason Gates. He was preceded in death by brother, J. Clyde Kelly, and sister, Thelma K. Paulison..¹
