Jack Ray Fooshee, 81, of Panama City, Fla., passed away Dec. 29, 2010. He was born Aug. 20, 1929, in Clinton, Okla., and grew up in Lawton, Okla. He is survived by his wife, Carolyn J. Fooshee; five children, Walter Fooshee, Donna Melvin and husband, Lonnie, Carolyn Liggin and husband, Ben, Beverly Spivey and husband, Charley, and Steven Fooshee, all of Panama City; two step-children, Angela Arnold and husband, Jason (Colorado), Kevin Howard and wife Tami (Louisiana); 15 grandchildren, 8 great-grandchildren; a brother, Graydon Fooshee and wife Yvonne (Oklahoma), and brother-in-law, Jack Slaybaugh (Oklahoma). He was preceded in death by his parents, Lester Ray and Chloe Slagle Fooshee; and sister, Lila Slaybaugh.
Mr. Fooshee served four years in the United States Navy, primarily with the Composite Squadron Seven (VC-7) in North Africa. He then served six years in the U.S. Civil Service, after which he worked for AAI Corporation and retired after 30 years as a senior field service engineer.
Mr. Fooshee was a member of St. Andrew United Methodist Church. He was very active in the St. Andrew United Methodist Men's Club, for which he served as president for the 2009-2010 term.
A visitation will be at 1 p.m. Saturday, January 1, 2010, with memorial service to follow at 2 p.m. at St. Andrew United Methodist Church, 2001 W. 11th St. in Panama City, with Pastors Chris and David Cook officiating. Honorary pallbearers will be members of the St. Andrew United Methodist Men's Club. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made in his memory to St. Andrew United Methodist Church. - Birth*: Jack was born on 20 Aug 1929.
