He took a homestead of 640 acres, built a home, planted a good orchard, made some very nice furniture by hand, and some of which were still in existance in 1944 per Mrs. O.P. Simmons of Kosciusko, MS. Some of these old peices of furniture are a chest, book case, desk and other pieces. He was a slave owner and was said to be considered a wealthy man before the Civil War. The 1860 census indicates this to be true. Her mother, Catherine McMillan lived with them at the time of the 1860 census, age 82 years. Henry Musselwhite gave deed for two acres for a cemetery near Kosciusko, Attala, county, Mississippi in about 1868. Their tombstones may be seen there today in the Musselwhite Cemetery.
Nancy Musselwhite was the sister of Mary McMillan, wife of Hugh Musselwhite. Henry and Nancy, along with her widowed mother-Catherine, her brothers, Arch, Malcom, John and William McMillan, Henry's brother Robert Musselwhite and others from Robeson County, NC, settled in Attala County, MS, according to the 1840 census. She lost 3 sons in the Civil War- Issac, Neill and George. - Birth*: Henry was born on 6 Jun 1807 at Robeson County, NC.
