4. Johannes⁴ Kuntz or Kuntz or Kounts or Koonts (Johan³, Nicolaus², Hans¹). Johannes was born on 17 Nov 1754 in York County, PA. from gravestone. 1753 from Christ Reformed Church records in York, PA. He married Dorothea Clodfelter 'Dorothy' on 28 Nov 1775 in Rowan County, NC,. by Rev. Johann Gottfried Arends, Abbotts Creek Church. Johannes died on 5 Aug 1842 in Davidson County, NC, at age 87. from gravestone. 1832 is the date of Will. Old Rowan County. His body was interred in Aug 1842 in Arnold, Davidson County, NC. Beulah Reformed United Church of Christ Cemetery, on Arnold Road.

The full names of the parents of Johannes Koontz: Johan Michael and Maria Elizabeth Kuntz. The parent's birth dates and death dates - Johan Michael Kuntz born 27 Dec., 1717, died 11 May 1795. Maria Elizabeth Kuntz born 6 Apr., 1722, died 27 Aug., 1794. They are buried at Christ Reformed United Church of Christ in Littlestown, PA. Their tombstones are still standing. At the request of Lee Koontz of Lexington, NC, additional information was received 19 Apr., 1995, from Petra Suess, an accredited genealogist for German research, from Freiburg, Germany. Her research determined that a Michael Kuntz was born 27 Dec., 1717, in Ireland to Nicolaus Kuntz, a wagon maker, and Catharina Margretha Weber. According to documents, this Otterberg, Germany, family left Otterberg in 1709 with five children and traveled to England and then to Midleton Parish in Ireland. In this parish three other children, including Michael, were born and christened. They returned to Otterberg, Germany, sometime between 1718 and 1720 where two other children were born. Also according to documents, the family asked the minister to copy the christening entries of the children born in Ireland in the church records. The minister explained that the family left Germany in 1709 because of hard times, that they were good Christians and highly respected in their community. This Michael Koontz, born 27 Dec., 1717, in Ireland, is believed to be the father of Johannes Kuntz, born 17 Nov., 1753/54, in York County, PA, and died 5 Aug., 1842, in Davidson County, NC. The children of Nicolaus and Catherina Margretha Weber Kuntz are:

CIRCA 1776. Johannes Kuntz was in the Rev. War. 1778. In the 1778 Rowan County, NC Tax Listings, John Couns was listed for 236 Pounds English money in Captain Lyons' Tax District.

Johannes Kuntz wrote his name in high German script in Deed Book 26, page 910, Rowan County Court, dated 1817 as John Kounts (Johannes Kuntz) transferring 112 acres to his son Michael Koonts.

Johannes Kuntz (John Koontz) appeared before Andrew Swicegood, Justice of the Peace in Davidson County, NC, to amend his Revolutionary War Pension declaration made 14 Nov., 1832. John stated that he was born in York County, PA, in 1754; that at the age of 20 or 21 years he removed to Rowan County, NC, and resided in that part now called Davidson; and that he had no record of his age. John stated he served 3 months in the Cherokee Expedition in 1776 in Captain Lyon's Co., under General Rutherford; his 2nd term of service was in Captain Lopp's Co. in the year 1779; and his 3rd term of service for 3 months was in Captain Lopp's Co. again in the spring of 1781. His common name was John.
Dorothea Clodfelter 'Dorothy.' Dorothea was born 25 Jun., 1755 in York County, PA. from gravestone. She was christened in York, York County, PA, 6 Jul., 1755. Christ Lutheran Church. She married Peter? Neufong before 1774. Dorothea died 30 Jul., 1842 in Davidson County, NC,. from gravestone. Her body was interred in 1842 in Arnold, Davidson County, NC. Beulah Reformed United Church of Christ Cemetery, on Arnold Road.

References: Died date - Died shortly before 27 Sep., 1875 when her surviving brother, David (of Red House, NC), relinquished his right to be Administrator of her Estate & requested his son, K. Z. Koonts, to be Administrator in his place. This data was found 22 Apr., 1993 in Davidson County, NC Estate Papers, Archives, Raleigh, NC.

She lived with her parents until their deaths.

At Mollie's father's estate sale she bought a corner cupboard which she still owned at her death.

1870.
In the 1870 Davidson County, NC Boone Twsp. Census, Household #199, Mollie was living with her sister-in-law, Sarah Hunt Koonts. Sarah was the widow of John "Chapel John" who died in 1866. Also in that household was John Michael, age 11. Mollie's age was shown as 80 and Sarah's as 58.
