From Surry, VA. Served in NC militia during Rev. War.

On 16 Nov., 1759,Chambers Humphrey of Dobbs County, NC, sold his land in VA, which had been granted to his grandfather in 1717, to Jeremiah Pierce of the Isle of Wight County, VA. 1759. The land sold by Chambers Humphrey in Surry, VA in 1759 was land inherited by his mother, Elizabeth Chambers, from her brother, John Humphrey, which he acquired by patent originally in 1717. 1759. Chambers Humphrey moved from Surry County, VA to NC in 1759. 1769. Moved to Bladen County, NC in 1769. 1788. He bought 100 acres of land in Raft Swamp Township (near St. Pauls, NC) from James Biggs in 1788.

Book of Wills, No. 1. Page 13. 15 Mar., 1788. The Will of Chambers Humphrey reads as follows: Chambers Humphrey: In the name of God, Amen. I Chambers Humphrey of Robeson County and State of North Carolina, being of sound and perfect mind and memory blessed be God, do this 15th day of March in the year of our Lord 1788 make and publish this my last Will and Testament in manner as following that is to say:
FIRST: I give and bequeath to my well beloved son William Humphrey one cow and calf to him and his heirs forever.
Lucy Pettus? Lucy was born in 1720 at Surry, VA. Lucy died after 1790. Her body was interred.
