Colonel Philip E. Hedrick , Sr. Philip was born 16 Oct., 1792 in Rowan County, NC. from gravestone. Philip died 22 Jul., 1881 in Davidson County, NC,. from gravestone. His body was interred in Jul 1881 in Silver Hill, Davidson County, NC. Beck's United Church of Christ Cemetery. Name reference - Gravestone has Col. Philip Hedrick (of George) He was one of the elders who assisted in organizing the NC Classis. The house built and occupied by Col. Hedrick still stands (1931) on the farm on the west side of "Four Mile Branch", about one and a half miles south of Hedrick's Grove Reformed Church. It is now (1931) occupied by Mrs. Martha Beck. It was a fine house 100 years ago. It is two stories high, with a large brick chimmey at either end, with broad open fire places. Near by at the foot of the hill is a spring, surrounded by three oak trees, one pin oak, and two chestnut oaks. Around the house are two cedar trees, one walnut, two maples and six apple trees. The six apple trees are what are left of more than 200 apple trees left by Col. Hedrick 50 years ago. About one mile away Col. Hedrick had another large orchard. All the apple trees were of the "Brandy" variety.
